Luthra’s Vishwanath Pratap Singh, Trilegal’s Bandhakavi to re-assemble at CAM corporate

Old AMSS-Trilegal duo Bandhakavi, VP Singh to join CAM
Old AMSS-Trilegal duo Bandhakavi, VP Singh to join CAM

L&L Partners’ corporate partner Vishwanath Pratap Singh, whom we had first reported to have left in April, will be joining Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas (CAM) in the coming days, coinciding with Trilegal corporate partner Ravindra Bandhakavi’s move that will also complete in the next few days.

The duo will provide a boost to CAM Delhi’s corporate practice, and Bandhakavi will head up the firm’s private equity practice.

Both had worked moved to Trilegal at the same time from what-was-then Amarchand Mangaldas’ Delhi office.

Singh (2007 NLSIU Bangalore) had then moved from Trilegal to L&L Partners in 2018, resigning from the firm around April this year.

Bandhakavi (1999 NLSIU) had had resigned from Trilegal earlier this month.

It is Bandhakavi’s last day at Trilegal today.

We have confirmed their move from authoritative sources, though both declined to comment and we have reached out to CAM for comment.

Great catch! VP is one of the most sought after senior/mentor in the Delhi corp law circle. His presence itself would upgrade the talent pool available to CAM.

Wish him all the luck and more!

CAM needs a heavy hitter litigation partner in Delhi. Focus needs to be on litigation which has a lot of potential.

CAM first year partner target is 5Cr. So together there target will not be less than 12-15 cr considering Ravi is quite senior.

Your April wala link is incorrect and why has deal reporting become so slow. Why has the recent Aramco and Amazon-Future deal not reported. Do you guys only report a deal after signing. I remember years back that you had reported that Shuva and Zia are working on the 7.2 billion dollar Reliance BP deal before signing. Same for the Bharti- MTN deal.

Ravi Head PE CAM. Good and smart of Reeba. Now if only Trilegal corporate head was that sensible and accommodating.

Does he report to Akila being the head of M&A.Does Akila become head of only strategic M&A and all M&A- Deals involving a PE Fund?

And where does Himanshu Narayan fit into all this? Who does he report to? Directly to CSS or to Akhila or Reeba?

Everyone reports to CSS buddy. Rest is only namesake to make people happy.

If he is PE head and akila is M&A head neither reports to the other. I am sure any overlap can be dealt with just as deals involving overlaps across practice groups.

Boss if KKR invests in Star, is that not M&A?

All PE is a sub-set of M&A. The example above is a private equity sponsor led investment., again - sub-set of M&A.

True that

Exactly. Akila has a bigger role and Reeba has the biggest role.

It is amazing how so many "lawyers" don't even get these basic things.

That being said, "all PE transactions - investments and exits are". PE, depending on the firm, also includes fund structuring and periodic advice on LP/IM relations, IC matters etc. - i.e. issues relating to the PE fund internally.
