De Biswas now joins CAM after a few months post-SAM break

Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas corporate and M&A salaried partner Sourav Kanti De Biswas, whom we had reported had resigned in July, is set to join Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas next week.

Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas managing partner Cyril Shroff told Bar & Bench, which had first reported his joining today: “We welcome Sourav to the firm.”

Biswas was part of the team of Akila Agrawal at Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas, before she had joined CAM in August after a four month notice period, beginning in April.

He is a 2005 NUJS Kolkata graduate, who had begun his career at Reliance Communications and then Advaya, moving to Amarchand Mangaldas in 2008 and making partner there in 2015.

Before him, SAM principal associate Mukul Sharma had (re-)joined Agrawal’s team as a partner at CAM.

Is there any stability whatsoever at the two Amarchands?

For that matter any law firm or any industry?

Some leave for money, some for recognition, some for the team, some for better work, et cetera.

I think we should not, really, make an issue of out movement by people. They all have their respective reasons and I am sure well thought out.

Also, if someone leaves one place; other joins. In my opinion this is how any industry functions and (how) it is supposed to be unless everyone but the key stakeholders leave and no one joins and then it truly is a sinking ship.

Don't fight with me now :p

No stability whatsoever. May be they are investing a lot in the PR exercise but it ain’t helping them. The smarter lot who actually can make a difference to the practice are moving to better and more equitable firms. The days of family run firms may come to an end in another 5-7 years.
