Samvad Partners Mumbai corporate partner Sudipta Routh has joined IndusLaw as a partner.

We have reached out to Routh, Samvad, and IndusLaw for comment.

Update 18:03: IndusLaw partner Kartik Ganapathy commented that “we’re very happy that he decided to join”, adding that Routh would complement Indus’ practice areas well.

IndusLaw now has 29 partners, following Routh’s joining.

Samvad managing partner Harish Narasappa commented: “We wish him all the best in whatever he does.”

Routh had joined Samvad in 2016 to bulk up the Bangalore-headquartered firm’s Mumbai office, after a year with Agram Legal Consultants, following a stint with Luthra from 2010.

Before that, the 1996 NLSIU Bangalore graduate had worked at Trilegal from 2001 and 2005, and leaving as a partner to become senior associate at Clifford Chance London in 2007.

This is a good question. As far as I know he has never moves with this team. But no idea why? He has a reputation for never being able to stay at one place. I dont know who pulls the trigger though.

Does Indus have enough work for multiple corporate partners in their Mumbai office? I think one ex-DH Law guys had joined them when DH Law merged into Link Legal.

Why should partners expect the firm to have work for them when they themselves generate enough to keep the team and the office busy!

I’ve had the good fortunes to have worked with him on a few assignments and it has been an enriching experience. This is a great opportunity for Indus Law and their clients, to be able to get the expertise from Sudipta.
