Good opportunities in real estate for KCo with SAM partner hire

Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas (SAM) real estate partner Avnish Sharma is to join Khaitan & Co next month, boosting its real estate practice in Delhi that it’s long been looking to fill.

Executive director Amar Sinhji commented: “Avnish brings with him a wealth of experience. Real estate is an area of focus for us and we see tremendous opportunities in this space in the long term.”

Counsel PB Jain is the only other senior Khaitan lawyer in Delhi specialising in real estate.

Sharma is a graduate of the London School of Economics (LSE), and had been promoted to SAM’s non-equity partnership in 2016.

Shardul Amarchand Delhi managing partner Pallavi Shroff commented: “Wish him all the best in life.”

Meanwhile, in unrelated news, SAM litigation partner Saanjh Purohit is joining Facebook, in-house.

...bill book size please?

Hi NiMo you don't need one to join Kco, despite AS being a highly regarded talent in this sector.

Enough work for all, the firm believes in cross selling and is not limited to the typical eat what you kill mentality which promotes undercutting and vested insecurities amongst most partners in some other law firms.

The fact that a partner is willing to forego his bonus and leave in last 15 days with his intention to join KCO spelt out, evinces the faith in work flow therein, at the very least.

All you need to do is be a good lawyer and more importantly be a better human being to belong here.

.....well, as already stated, my anticipation was Zero only which you had also confirmed! BTW, I was just asking because I have been told by many people that law firms recruit by size of bill books! I am inhouse and I am happy being a successful client ! That way I can contribute to someone's bill book as well. Do you want it? No? One thing is sure that you need to hone your cross-examination skills!

It depends upon how you market yourself and potential vacancy. No one leaves a bonus on the table unless it's certain that it's not worth the wait, or guidance given to the exit strategy. Shows Khaitan is bullish about the sector when most have lost faith. Wish our new neighbor success.

Good luck Avnish. Its obvious that some people will be depressed and forget your hardwork and dedication of around 12 years, if I am not wrong. But I know that you will, always do wonders, and be a good human being. May God bless you.
