T&T founder Rohit Tandon granted bail by HC, after completing 1 year, 4 months behind bars for alleged money laundering

T&T Law founder Rohit Tandon is finally out on bail more than one year and four months after he went into custody for alleged money laundering following the discovery of an unprecedented amount of cash at his home and office, reported PTI on 10 May.

Delhi high court justice Mukta Gupta on Thursday granted the relief to Tandon and co-accused Raj Kumar Goel, a data entry operator, subject to their furnishing a personal bond each of Rs 5 lakh and two sureties each of similar amount to the satisfaction of the trial court.

Until February 2018 Tandon’s bail application had been rejected at all levels including the Supreme Court, as we had reported.

How long exactly was Subrata jailed for till he got bail? Maybe one year, 4 months-ish is becoming the new upper limit until courts get bored? :)

Justice Mukta Gupta's order [Para 24-25] expressly records what changed, i.e.,the Supreme Court set aside the twin conditions for release on bail under Section 45 of PMLA as unconstitutional, in Nikesh Tarachand Shah vs. UOI (which was the major reason for rejection of the earlier bail application).
