Talwar Thakore & Associates has promoted counsel Deepa Christopher and Neville Golwalla to its partnership.

Both are in the firm’s corporate practice, with their promotions taking effect from 1 April 2020.

NUJS Kolkata graduate Deepa Christopher had been with TTA since 2008, having joined from Infosys. She works in public and private M&A, with a particular focus on insurance, as well as data protection and employment-related matters.

She had been promoted to counsel in 2018.

GLC Mumbai graduate Neville Golwalla had joined TTA in 2010 and also works on public and private M&A, court-related schemes and disputes, as well as fintech and IBC.

He had become a counsel in 2019.

Partner Kunal Thakore commented in a statement: “It is a pleasure to see Deepa and Neville being elected to the partnership.

“They have been a key part of growing our corporate practice, particularly in the areas of insurance, data protection, court related schemes and fintech, and we look forward to their continuing to grow the business as partners.”

Partner Feroz Dubash added: “Having worked closely with Deepa and Neville for over a decade, it is a pleasure to welcome them to the partnership. They are great additions to the partnership and we are all looking forward to working with them to continue to grow the practice and provide clients with the quality legal advice they have come to rely on from the firm.”

The promotions grow Talwar Thakore & Associates partnership to 9, included in its total fee-earner headcounts of 53.

On 3 April, we had reported that TTA had completed the first part of its promotions by elevating two each to counsel, managing associate and senior associate.

What, as per your knowledge, is the standard for other top-tier firms?

For a junior partner 50-60 L fixed + an equal amount as bonus pay (contingent on you meeting your billing and recovery targets)

SAM and AZB pay that much. Not sure about others though.

At least enthu-cutlet students from either of their alma maters aren't gonna spam the comments section by gushing about how their universities are on fire. Like some students from a certain NLU have been doing of late.

Glc is rare. But NUJS is good anyway like the other older NLUs. So it's fine. We expect to see the oldest 5 NLUs here regularly. It's the GNLU, NLUD, JGLS and off late NUALS kids who keep harping on the smallest of things.

I have not seen anyone from NUALS say anything like that. Your insinuation is therefore completely unwarranted. Comment 2 was clearly meant for trolls posing as students from NLIU Bhopal, they are the ones who have been spamming of late like that.
Disclaimer: I'm not from NUALS.

Please tell partner compensation at TTA ? Approx how much will deepa and Neville make? Give a proper number. I know it depends on a lot of things but on average or approx how much?

I think they will make around 80 lakhs including everything. TTA does not pay as much as SAM or CAM.

New partners at TTA earn 1 cr with a bonus on top of that. They are transparent about compensation. I don’t know exactly what new partners at some of the larger law firms get, but it seems a little more than at other firms.

Rather than guessing, can someone do a compensation survey, like they have in places like the US and UK? There must be a reason why Indian firms are opaque about their compensation levels and structure.

Nice to see a TTA in news. Lately it is only been news on CAM, SAM, AZB, Khaitan, Indus, Luthra, Trilegal, S&R or yet another juvenile fight about which law school is better or a front page ad from a college proclaiming they are the best. Booooooring!

I know for sure they don't make 1 crore at TTA. Infact the main partner (name partner) also earns only 1.2 crs
Guest 3 May 2020, 12:52

Completely fake news. The main partner's usual take home is in the range of 3 crores annually.
