TTA promotes Neville Golwalla, Priyanka Kumar to counsel, 3 to managing associate

Talwar Thakore & Associates has promoted two of its managing associates to counsel, and three associates to managing associate, following its partner promotion of P Ram Kumar last week.

The new counsel are:

  • Neville Golwalla (GLC Mumbai, 2007)

Neville has been an integral part of the firm’s corporate practice. He has extensive experience advising clients on a wide array of transactions including acquisitions and divestitures (both public and private), mergers, demergers, joint ventures, private equity investments and project financings. He has also advised clients on various litigation related matters including disputes with minority shareholders and board members.

  • Priyanka Kumar (NLU Jodhpur, 2008)

Priyanka is an important part of the firm’s capital markets team. She has extensive experience on a wide range of transactions including foreign currency bond issuances, issuance of masala bonds, and other forms of external commercial borrowings, domestic debt issuances and other financing transactions.

The following associates have been promoted to managing associate:

  • Anurag Shrivastav (Rizvi College Mumbai, 2011)
  • Ashwin Tiwari (KC College Mumbai, 2013)
  • Dinoo Muthappa (ILS Pune, 2010)

TTA MA is equivalent to a counsel at other Indian firms, while counsel is equal to partner

I thought most larger firms did not offer equity at the time of partner promotions, and that that stage came after years of being a salaried partner? Whereas partner at these smaller firms means equity. So, you bide your time in a lock-step as counsel.

Someone please correct me if the scheme of things at the larger firms has changed.

I think TTA MA is equal to SA/MA at other firms, while counsel is equal to MA/Counsel at other firms, and partner is equal to partner.
