25 Lohiyan 2012 graduates find jobs as RMLNLU batch doubles to 154

RMLNLU Lucknow’s 2012 graduating class of 154 this year secured 25 jobs, with most going to legal process outsourcing (LPO) companies and eight law firms that were first-time recruiters.

A total of 125 students from the college’s second graduating class of April 2012 participated in the campus recruitment process.

The 25 jobs that were accepted a mix of campus-facilitated and independently secured jobs, excluding a number of offers that were not accepted and a number of ongoing recruitments.

Legal process outsourcing

LPO Pangea3 was the heaviest recruiter with five hires, followed by Hyderabad-based LPO Quislex which hired four students.

Kolkata-based Offshore Research Partners (ORP) also recruited one student.

Law firms

Nine students were recruited across eight law firms.

Zeus Law Associates led with two hires, while one student each joined ASJ Law Associates, Desai & Diwanji, K Law, Mindspright Legal, PXV Law Partners, Sarthak Law Associates and SN Gupta & Co.

In-house

Two students were picked by corporates: IT company HCL technologies hired one, and auditing giant firm PricewaterhouseCoopers hiring the other.

Litigation

Two students joined Supreme Court advocates on record.

Others and LLMs

Legal recruitment firm Vahura picked up one student, while one student was absorbed by legal industry services company LexisNexis.

One student each joined the Tata Institute of Social Sciences and Canada’s McGill University.

Two students received offers to study at New York University (NYU).

The class-size this year was more than twice as large as that of the debut graduating batch last year, when 54 out of a total of 71 students had participated in campus recruitment.

Amarchand Mangaldas had hired two in the first batch but did not pick up any this year from Lucknow.

pretty decent,considering the placements are still going on and rejected offers have not been counted!
also, this was the final non-clat batch and the next batch is a very good one! new firms coming in is also a positive!

20% placements. Out of that nearly 40% in LPOs. And as a law student, if you start your career with an LPO, your career is ruined.

I'll really have to change my opinion about these new NLUs. Colleges like Amity and Christ seem to be a better bet.

Yes even ICFAI had beter placements, in the sense, the students have managed to get into small and mid-size law firms and learning good work. Only the worst of the lot are in LPOs, but they are very happy...lol

The news that AMSS hired two students from the debutant batch but did not hired any in the second batch clearly depicts the true picture. I am pretty sure that the two students hired did not perform well and thus AMSS decided not to recruit from the following batch.......wht a sham .....

Also, LPO being the major recruiter is clearly depicting the quality.........

Thw two AMSS recruits were originally selected for the hyderabad office but they were so good that they are now at the mumbai office!!...and going strong!!!

Don't boast about your college here and go study and feel sad about 80% of this batch who are job less......nd ya SCREW URSELF....!!

Please get your facts right, the two students hired from your university were transferred to join AMSS Mumbai because of immediate requirement and not good performance. And to enlighten you, these people joined AMSS Mumbai before even joining AMSS Hyderabad.....lolz....! And the fact that these people were hired for HYDERABAD office itself is big evidence of the quality......!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Kian it is sad to see not even one article by LI discussing the root causes for poor recruitment (i.e. economic crisis in India) and advising students what to do. LI should also interview the BCI chairman and seek his views on how the students can be helped. Instead LI is busy encouraging petty law school rivalries.

I believe Bar & Bench has published a table of the offers received (e.g., 10 offers were made by Quislex, I understand, but only 4 were actually accepted).

We had double-checked and confirmed our figures with an authoritative college source to make sure we only published accepted offers, as we have aimed to do with other colleges too.

Insecure people are the first ones to jump for joy when other colleges dont do so well. Maybe if you had better things to do with your life, or you were in a top NLU yourself..you would value your time more. this discussion is so pointless! and shows how you all are not self assured at all - @5 and 7.

No its not called evaluation! If you're going to be a lawyer, please realise that you need to know ALL the facts to pass any comments on any college. You clearly dont. I am pretty sure you're not from a well-known college, and you're trying to pacify your own ego and convince yourself that other colleges are doing worse then yours. Atleast that way you have a chance. How sad.

Glad to read mixed responses frm pple across the law schools.

guys...its nt only the campus placement dat determines the success n failure of a batch or clg...its only one part of it...thre r other endless avenues...

Recruitments, especially in law firms happens mostly thru jacks n contacts, so its nt alwys the fault of the University..try n luk at other acheivements of the RML students...u'll get a better perspective..
As regards clat or non-clat batch...dat is a bull shit criterion...its individual calibre dat matters in the end!!!

Had it not been for Vahura(rainmaker group) taking over the resposibility of placements opf lohiya for whopping 20 lakhs( hearsay) the placements would have been far better. Vahura ruined it big time. Thats one reason why most of the students are opting for off campus placements and I am sure in coming months most of them will be better placed than their predecessor.

I was surprised to hear this. only two of them chose litigation and was ridiculous to entertain this by law universities to go for commercial world. BCI should be strict with their norms to prevent budding lawyers. Pupillage systems should be included as mandatory one. without knowing the concepts of laws and Interpretations, How can they survive in the Commercial aspects?.. whether BCI can take preventive measures?
