Breaking: Third NLUO VC early bird resignation; Ex-NLSIU V Nagaraj quits

NLUO Cuttack vice chancellor (VC) Prof V Nagaraj left the university yesterday. He resigned from the post of VC on 16 May and his resignation was accepted by the university yesterday.

Nagaraj, who had been appointed last year as the Cuttack law school’s third VC in five years, was not reachable for comment by phone and messages at the time of going to press.

His personal secretary at NLUO Biju Mathew confirmed the news of his resignation.

Nagaraj had joined NLUO in March 2013 after being registrar at NLSIU since 2008. He was selected for the post of VC at Cuttack from a shortlist of five including NLSIU professor Prof TV Subba Rao, Delhi University dean Prof Gurdip Singh and HOD BK Raina, and Banaras Hindu University professor Prof D Verma.

Every NLUO VC till date has resigned mid tenure.

Truth be told, Prof. Nagaraj did nothing constructive during his tenure at NLU Orissa. Out of the 14 months he spent at NLU Orissa, he was in campus for barely 8-10 months. He fell short of his commitments and failed to deliver. The institution is in shambles with a dearth of competent faculty and decent infrastructure. Its time for NLU Orissa to appoint a Vice Chancellor who is not a deserter, and who can deliver. I wish the best to Prof. Nagaraj. Thank you, but no thank you.
