GNLU bags 24 top tier BigLaw jobs after its Day Zero yesterday, as (Cyril) Amarchand hires 12 to overtake Khaitan as biggest Day Zero hirer

GNLU Gandhinagar has already placed a total of 24 students on its Day Zero held yesterday, out of a batch of 155, of whom 115 took part in the recruitment process.

A total of 80 students took part in the Day Zero, according to an official press release from GNLU, and 26 offers were made.

Amarchand Mangaldas’ Mumbai region was the biggest recruiter, with 12 total GNLU 2016 grads hired. It is understood that six of those were pre-placement offers (PPOs) offered after internships.

Khaitan & Co only hired three, while Amarchand’s Delhi region picked up four.

The latest rounds of Day Zeros makes Amarchand Mumbai the largest 2016 recruiter so far with 26 hires, having overtaken Khaitan & Co on 22.

Trilegal picked up two, and Luthra & Luthra, J Sagar Associates (JSA) and Platinum Partners one.

This is the first 2016 campus Day Zero hire from Platinum.

GNLU director Bimal Patel said in a press release:

“The class of 2016 consists of high calibre students who are capable of taking on the challenges in the legal arena. The batch has made significant contribution through their various achievements in quality research based publications, prestigious national and international moot court competition, debates, and essay competitions. The batch is all geared-up to make an impact in the nation building process by their excellent work ethics and professionalism.”

Nidhi Buch, the faculty convenor of the Committee on Recruitment Affairs (CRA):

“The class of 2011-2016 have been very interactive and participative in engaging in fruitful classroom discussions. The batch comprises of students who are passionate about the study of law and have indeed been benefitted by the immense practical exposure which they have gained during their internships.”

Placement coordinator Nisha Trivedi commented in the statement:

“The students of the 2011-2016 batch have been ideal professionals during their internships and they were found to be diligent and industrious. To help them in career planning, we had invited our alumnus and professionals from the industry to advice and counsel the students.”

The CRA’s student member Varun Chauhan said:

“We started working with the 2011-2016 batch for their internships and placements a year ago by conducting lectures on how to get Pre-placement Offers (PPOs), CV writing, workshops on interpersonal skills and by conducting interactive sessions with the final year students who shared their past valuable internship experiences.”

Yeah, I understand, but I'm pretty sure that the final figures of GNLU will not cross 30 people in all!!
I really liked GNLU but the news relating to its report and administration being paralysed!, it will definitely hanper your placements.

What's wrong with you people? It's obvious that Amarchand is sucking up to Modi. If Nitish Kumar was PM they would hire from CNLU Patna and declare it the best college.

i think that problem is not Nitish or Modi. CNLU students and administration is solely responsible for this. CNLU students do something for your career

For GNLU, Amarchand Delhi (SAM) recruited one bright Banglorean chap through a pre placement offfer. The other three were placed on Day Zero. Similarly, Khaitan & Co., gave a pre placement offer to a smart and pretty girl from Bangalore. The other two Khaitan offers were made on Day Zero.

NLU Jodhpur held its day zero on 9 April 2015. 28 people secured jobs (15 day zero acceptances+ 13 PPOs). There were a total 51 offers that were made :D Take that NLS, NUJS, NALSAR and NLUD. The rest are inconsequential

What is it about finding out how much a law firm pays? If you really want to know, why don't you, at least, first try to secure an internship there and then aggressively chase behind the partners there to tell how much they pay their starters.
Good going GNLU! It's overtaken NLIU now.
Thats a really stupid comment. I also wonder why is a Noojie commenting on a GNLU post targeting NLIU when they themselves have more than enough issues. Is it necessary you people keep commenting on every post to get coverage and prove yourselves better? Is this insecurity of NUJS or some GNLU student trying to prove yourself? Either ways, it is good GNLU is getting placed, but 20-30 odd out of 160 is nothing to be pleased about. On the other hand to NUJS: When you have issues in your own college and keep pestering LegallyIndia to investigate them (!), it is quite bold to target NLIU who have never been involved in mudslinging like most other NLU's and have kept their head down to work harder! To NUJS: You might have heard the phrase: "Those who live in glass houses do not throw stones on others!! I would advice you to solve your issues before you comment on others.

If this comment is a troll by GNLU, they really need to grow up!
