Gujarat National Law University to build law history museum on campus

GNLU Gandhinagar has drawn the plan for India’s first on-law-school-campus “Indian Legal History Museum”.

The museum will depict 2,500 years of Indian law’s history in “pictographic, sigillographic and paleographic mode” visuals, according to DNA India.

“Dharmashastras, Smritis, Sutras and Neetis”, the development of judicial precedents, Muslim law codes, and the constituent assembly debates, will be exhibited in a law gallery, through quotations on justice, and through various installations. Plans were still at an early stage, the college’s director Bimal Patel told the paper, but did not confirm further details.

Sounds quite interesting! A good museum which will of interest to public needs to be very elaborate and good. Shall visit GNLU on next visit to the Gujju land.
Have heard a lot about the law school, its campus and all that jazz!

Well done, GNLU. This is a think-out-of-the-box approach and must be appreciated rather than pin-pointing other issues re: dorms etc. The campus, I have heard, is one of the best and most of the parts are still under construction so I believe those problems would be taken care of, in due course. @Ex GNLU: You don't sound like you are from GNLU, as one who does not like alma mater, may not like anything else (including self).

I think, ,in the event University has excess funds, it can use such funds for giving scholarships to its deserving and some needy students. It can appoint better faculties, undertake extensive training program(s) with such funds. Having an exclusive museum may not make much sense especially when the most Law Schools are suffering from fund shortages, lack of good faculty and motivated students.

@NLUite. You don't need to think-out-of-the box buddy. You need to jump out of the box. Note: YOU! I agree with @VJ
