NaMo taps GNLU's Bimal to draft deep sea mining laws

The ministry of earth sciences has asked GNLU Gandhinagar and its director Dr Bimal Patel to draft two laws to regulate deep sea mining in India’s territorial waters and the Antarctic ocean, reported the Times of India.

OMG! Our country has had it if he drafts our laws! Wish Modi would stop being so parochial and give to proper experts, even if they are not Gujarati. (e.g. Jaygo from NSLIU).

GNLU,only law school has organised activities of international level.. in the field of Marine law....happy to see the recognition of GNLU by central Govt in this field

I do not think this is anything but a CV building exercise.I have nothing against law students assisting in drafting statutes. It shall be a great experience. But this particular decision is wrong. There is nothing to tap as the title would suggest. (except oil maybe in the long run)

This particular decision is nothing but another CV/website building exercise. I have nothing against students helping in drafting statutes. I hope the decision is merely to form part of a larger team of experts. I can't see how they will take on this challenge alone, without the proper guidance.
