The BSc LLB degree – NLU Jodhpur’s LLB offering which included papers from the Bachelors-in-degree papers – was scrapped permanently for lack of demand.A notification on the website of the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) states:

“As per the information received on 30th January 2016 from National Law University, Jodhpur, it is notified that National Law University, Jodhpur is not offering B.Sc. LL.B. (Hons.) Course for the Academic Year 2016-17. However, the total number of seats for the Graduation Course that is B.A., LL.B. (Hons.) and B.B.A., LL.B. (Hons.) at National Law University, Jodhpur shall remain the same as notified earlier.”

NLU Jodhpur vice chancellor Prof Poonam Saxena told Legally India that the number of students enrolling for the BSc LLB degree was eight in 2012, and then proceeded to decrease each subsequent year with eventually only two or three students opting for it.

She said that around 20 students opt each year for the BBA LLB degree – the Bachelors in Business Administration style law degree offered by NLUJ - while the remaining students in the batch of 115 go for the traditional BALLB degree.

NLUJ had decided that if less than 16 students enrolled in any one of its three LLB degree offerings, it would discontinue that degree, she said.

NLUJ was the only national law school to have the science, business administration and arts-style options for its LLB degree offering, since its inception. Now only the BBA LLB and the BALLB options remain at the law school.

About time this craptacular bit of nonsense was brought down. For almost a decade NLUJodhpur has been conducting a clever bit of educational fraud on everyone with this 'Bsc LLB' where I believe a pretense of actual dissection and biology / botany classes was carried out. Now that this charade is over maybe they can get rid of the BBA as well. Prtty rich for a college that fails to produce good lawyers to try and produce science graduates, Lol

What's got your pants in a twist mate? Don't rant just because NLUJ folks regularly pull the rug from under your feet and expose you for what you really are - a below average lawyer from a "good" law school, whose only claim to fame is being a bag of hot gas (literally and figuratively). Now go stand in the corner and introspect about how things have come to this. Otherwise, remember that rats and frogs are not the only things we can dissect. Haha

On a side note - I do agree with the fact that the faculty (though not the students) who were part of the B.Sc. Course were a complete waste of student money. They only played politics and contributed to non deserving students topping the batch.

But under Indian Patent laws, a person is mandatorily required to take science course to even sit for Patent Bar Exam. The situation is same in US. I understand some NLU kids have already passed Patent Bar Exams in US and India. Yale offers 6 year JDMD program designed for Patent law practitioners.

Anyways, it is upto NLU Administration and board of governers to scrap the course. It makes sense economically also for them.

The jodhpur way is a smartass way of getting around the science degree requirement for the patent attorney exam. Can any of the beneficiaries of the "Bsc" degree from jodhpur hold a candle to a 3 year BSc P/C/M degree holder (or any other science / engg graduate)? Can any alumnus of that institution say with an honest face that they were imparted an honours level education in PCM? Frankly it's a wonder UGC did not pick up on the scam as there is no college in India that offers a general BSc with such a superficial treatment of physical sciences,that too with the bottommost faculty for the job.

Here's the ridiculous note on jodhpur law university's website

B.Sc., LL.B. (Hons.) is an integrated program designed to provide extensive knowledge of contemporary technologies, having direct correlation with upcoming techno-legal disputes and IPR issues addressing the emerging trends in contemporary scholarship.

Lol. Reading this would give the impression that these sub-mediocre kids would have some ace weapon in their war on patent and copyright law. Makes you believe Law School
got it wrong all these decades with the sole emphasis on arts. Rofl

Bro, Noojie nahi, Bhopali hai ye, pakka. I had the misfortune of having to spend a couple of weeks in NLIU and holy mother you should just see the deluded ideas of grandeur those kids have. They consider themselves to be better than not only Jodhpur but Kolkata too, lol. but in their defense, Bhopali pot IS really bad.
