Nuals Kochi student Mary Kavita Dominic, NUJS Kolkata’s Gauri Pillai and NLSIU Bangalore’s Vanshaj Jain have been awarded the prestigious Rhodes Scholarship to study at a postgraduate course of their choice for a year in Oxford University, alongside two other non-law students.

Update 12:32: We have learned that NLSIU’s Vanshaj Jain has also won the Rhodes this year.

Dominic is the first Nuals student to receive a Rhodes scholarship, and will be studying for the Bachelor of Civil Law (BCL) at Oxford.

Pillai is the third student from NUJS to have picked up the award, according to a post on Facebook by the college. An NUJS student last won a Rhodes in 2013, with Amba Kak.

According to a post on NLSIU’s Facebook page, Jain is the 25th Rhodes scholar from NLSIU.

Last year, CLC Delhi University’s Bahuli Sharma and NLU Delhi’s Rishika Sahgal were awarded the Rhodes.

In 2014, starting at Oxford in 2015, NLSIU Bangalore’s Mansi Sood and Nalsar Hyderabad’s Sanya Samtani were the only lawyers to have won the Rhodes.
