NUJS EC gets fortune-teller on W.B CM’s recommendation

NUJS Kolkata gets socio-astro palmist Nemai Bannerjee as its latest executive committee member after a recommendation by West Bengal chief minister (CM) Mamata Banerjee for his appointment.

Bannerjee had predicted the CM’s landslide victory in the 2011 assembly elections, as well as Indira Gandhi’s assassination on 31 October 1984. [TOI]

Good move by Mamata di!

This should be implemented in other national law schools too. We are uncertain about our recruitments especially in an economy like this. We really need someone to guide and tell us in advance so that we can plan accordingly.

Mind you she is a daughter of Bengal!!! A ferocious nationalist and an illustrious lawyer (never heard of the college from where she got her degree from).....uff what a combination ......what else do you need....a priest or a yunani who would drive the evil spirits and the bad luck away......i wonder whether after this NUJS would be distributing gemstones to its students to counter their bad luck.

You will find extensive coverage of this (and other scams in NUJS) in Bengali newspapers. In fact it is the lead editorial of today's Bartaman, which is the #2 paper of Bengal:

why only judges/ lawyer should get to be in exec committees of law schools....why not fortune tellers, milkmen, security guards, cm's party workers or the tobacconist outside the college
now look here 5 Jan 2013, 11:39

Hey! Don't go lumping the tobacconist with the rest of the people in your sarcastic comment. The tobacconist outside NUJS is a revered member of the NUJS community. Everyone loves dada, and nobody would have a problem if he was on the ex-co. In fact, he's probably heard more about the issues that students (and some faculty) at NUJS face than the ex-co has, so he'd probably be over-qualified for the job.

i will not comment against mamata didi. She might put me in jail, like she did to a couple of guys (including a professor) for posting cartoons on social websites

Hey hey! As per the ToI report, his name has been proposed! Has he already been appointed? As per hs predictions, it seems that he will be. But one can always hope.

This is nothing. Those from the very first batch of NUJS will remember a huge scam involving an arrogant person from administration who was universally hated and reviled. There was no RTI or Twitter or Times Now those days, otherwise the college would have earned a bad name in the first year if its existence.

You mean the lady who drove out half the faculty from NUJS?
