Shimla to get national law school with Rs 400 cr budget

Himachal Pradesh will build a National Law University (NLU) in Ghanahatti near Shimla for Rs 400 crore, according to Himachal Pradesh high court chief justice Mansoor Ahmed Mir, reported the PTI.

He said that an ordinance would be passed soon, followed by a bill in the state assembly, which would create the first national law school in the state offering three- and five-year law degree courses, governed by the high court.

Next what, a national law school in Andaman Islands, with rave parties included in curriculum ??!!!

Focus should be on quality & not just to start a NLS for the sake of it (referring to NLS, Mumbai).

Rave etc is a bit extreme but I grew with the general principle.

NLU is the generic term, NLS is the one in Bangalore

stop building new nlus without having proper infrastructure (both material and human resource), have a look at what happened to NLU Mumbai or DSNLU or any of the other tier 3 NLUs.

There just aren't enough teachers and proper infrastructure for the existing NLUs. What in gods name is the point to create new ones. Not to mention, the horrible job scene. CNLU, NLUO, RMLNLU and others are still struggling to get proper jobs. There are only so many firms and so many offers...

Although I agree that there is no sense in establishing another NLU (given the lack of faculty, infrastructure etc), but NLU in shimla sounds exciting ;)...
