[[Nuals Kochi]] and [[Nalsar Hyderabad]] were the only two Indian teams to make a mark at the 15th [[Stetson International Environmental Moot Court Competition]] last week.
Nuals reached the quarterfinals of the moot, won the third best memorandum award and its speaker Ajitha Pichaipillai won the tenth best oralist award.
Even though Nalsar could not break at the moot, its speaker Tarun Gopalakrishnan won the eighth best oralist award in this tier 2 world-class moot of the MPL 2 sponsored by Allen & Overy.

Nuals takes home 10 points from this moot for its memorandum and oralist awards and is now ranked tenth in the [[MPL Standings]].
Nalsar gets five points for the oralist award and continues to maintain its top spot with 175 points, according to the [[MPL 2 rulebook]] but Nuals will not earn any MPL points for finishing quarterfinalists in this Tier 2 World Class Moot.
India was represented by four teams that were selected after a national qualifier for north and south India last year. [[University School of Law and Legal Studies, Guru Gobind Singh Indraprashta University, Delhi]] and [[UILS Chandigarh]] got through from north India, while Nalsar and NUALS were the south Indian representatives.
The moot was organized by the Institute for Biodiversity Law and Policy of the Stetson University College of Law. Royal C. Gardner, the Director of the Institute was unavailable for comment.
The moot problem revolved around issues related to oil pollution and the marine environment.
Last year NLU Jodhpur was the only team to score at Stetson, winning 14 points for being quarter-finalist and two honourable mentions.

Jessup World Rounds are being concluded yesterday. NUJS reached quarterfinals of the world rounds and NLU Delhi reached Octa Finals. NALSAR and ILS made early exits this time.
NLU Delhi team won Overall Best Applicant Award. NLU Delhi speaker Shreya Rastogi won 9th best oralist award, speaker Akshay BD won 17th best oralist award.
Unfortunately, none of the Indian teams made to semis this time. I am waiting for the world rounds story, so debate starts again..
My question is same, for the oralist ranks, how do you calculate honourable mention.

NLU Delhi went to Jessup for the first time, and going this much distance is itself a great thing for them and legal institutions in India. They are a new college afterall. Its the students what makes university, and they are following Our former VC. Kudos to Ranbir Singh, building another great institution to give tough competition to its previously build institutions.
There was a best newcomer award that Jamaica won. I think NLU D should have won an Hon. Men. in this category
