‘Don’t panic’: CLAT 2021 plans TBC by May, subject to (unpredictable) pandemic

The 2021 Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) remains scheduled for 13 June 2021 but with the pandemic re-raging more strongly than ever, the CLAT Consortium of National Law Universities has announced that it is aware of this (see notification above).

The consortium would take a call on how things progress by May 2021, though it stopped short of announcing a postponement right now.

That may be stating the obvious, as may be its plea that “applicants are advised not to panic at this stage”, though to be fair to the consortium everything is up in the air right now, with an end of this wave, let alone its upper limits, being impossible to predict.

Going by the precedent and multiple postponements of CLAT 2020, and considering the Covid-19 numbers are worse now than they ever have been, an eventual postponement or other measures seem quite likely.

The current CLAT dates also face a partial (but not insurmountable) scheduling conflict with the CISCE and CBSE board exams, which the CLAT consortium is also aware of.

But with the overriding and more pressing concern of the pandemic, all bets are off in any case.

I hope the author(s) is aware that the scheduling conflict isn’t exactly the same anymore as the boards have the postponed.

There must be an online exam like NLAT, with full security features enabled this time. NLSIU must permanently Claxit if the consortium does not fall in line. #WeAreWithYouSudhirKrishnaswamy

Vaccine opened for all age groups, but it will take 6 to 8 months to vaccinate everyone. So have it next year.

at the present rate it will take 2.5 years to vaccinate all adults in India.

[...] "Jo honga dekh lenge" is how you might run your personal life, not a fucking Consortium of NATIONAL Law Universities.

NEET PG, IIT Mains, ISC, CBSE 12th - have all been postponed with the exact caveat that authorities are keeping an eye on the situation and will update accordingly. So why cant CLAT consortium do the same?

Legal Methods, Semester 1. Fallacies. Do well if you ever make it through.

equitable comparison and precedents are not fallacies

CLAT is going to be crushed by the rising covid cases and "the postponed" 10+2 board exams as well. It can't happen in the middle of board exams too. Postponement of exam will be a huge help to the aspirants.

Bunch of useless people. Stop delaying and start planning now! The only way out is an online exam. Start talks with LSAT.

You start talking with them. And give it and opt for the institutes that take LSAT scores. Since you are so enamored with it.

We possibly can't have an online CLAT this year, last year's NLAT is the best example of why CLAT cannot be conducted from home. Inspite of strict regulations, students found 101 ways of cheating. Finally, the exam was scrapped by the SC. Exams like JEE, NEET which have the largest pool of candidates are also pending. But conducting online exam from home won't be a fair and equitable solution.

For those who are "with Sudhir":

After two alumni and the BCI got a judgement from the High Court last year saying NLS is a national institution like IIT, IIM which can't have State reservation, it appears that Sudhir is compromising that by striking a deal with the Karnataka Govt he will get the GC to pass a domicile reservation from this year onwards! In which case, no basis for CLAXIT!
Kian, please verify this - many strong sources.
