PSA: Despite fake notification doing rounds CLAT has NOT been postponed, still scheduled for 7 Sep [UPDATE-1: CLAT responds]

CLAT not postponed
CLAT not postponed

A faked Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) consortium notification (see above) has been making the rounds on social media, purporting postponement of the 2020 CLAT.

We have checked with authoritative CLAT sources, and the above notice is definitely a fake and the CLAT is still on for 7 September 2020.

A number of CLAT aspirants (as well as NEET and JEE aspirants) have been strongly resisting holding the CLAT and other physical exams in September due to the growing Covid-19 pandemic.

However, there is no indication that the CLAT consortium has any plans to change the date at present, particularly since the government has signed off on the NEET and JEE dates that directly precede the 7 September CLAT date.

Update 20:13: The consortium has confirmed that a fake notification has gone around, with an official notification on its official channels.

What has happened to people? Can't they identify that the contact number has been misaligned and some eminent personalities have believed this to be true and tweeted about this.
The prankster who created this notification is going to face the consequences.

I suspect Congress IT Cell designed the fake notification to stir confusion.

How are aspirants 'strongly resisting' it exactly? Besides commenting on social media that is? Enough with the hyperbole.

Shame on the CLAT Consortium and Modi govt for having exams at this time. It is literally homicide because the youth will spread the virus to the elderly.

Let me see, on the one hand, a school drop out immature young individual who is the darling of media, and whose heart might be in the right place, but who actually has got zero actual achievement to her credit yet, and has an opinion for things happening in other countries that she's got very little clue about. Damn, the choice is so hard that I'm not even reaching the part where the other side has to be introduced.

NLU Admin Equation: CLAT fee revenue > lives of senior citizens.
Guest 26 Aug 2020, 04:36
+8 -23
I do not get this point. How are NLUs responsible for the lives of the senior citizens? The people in their families are. If you do not want to endanger their lives, then do not appear for the exam. Not holding it now more or less means cancelling for the year, since things aren't likely to improve by December till vaccine comes. Which means those who are arguing for it are okay with dropping a year and sitting for it with the next batch. What's preventing them to do so even if the exam is held?

Only the "will of parents and students" that align with political priorities of the ruling party will be heard. Troll the rest. Also the the rest can roll the dice and hope that they will survive political management of statistics and research. Now you have experienced that statistics do lie.

To appear "normal" (aka Atmanirbhar) we must do the abnormal.

Very comforting news for CLAT yay crowd https://www.ndtv.com/world-news/genetic-data-show-how-a-single-superspreading-event-sent-covid-across-us-2285298?pfrom=home-topstories

Since the NLUs are essentially state universities and several states such as WB, Odisha, Maharashtra etc (you can say opposition states) have appealed to PM to personally intervene and postpone the larger entrance tests, maybe the students opposing CLAT at this juncture can reach out to CM, Edu/Law Ministers of their respective states and request that the CLAT should be postponed.

WB CM quoting unnamed "expert opinion" suggests that things are expected to turn a corner after Sept 25 (doubtful). But CLAT can certainly wait for two more weeks after the JEE/NEET are done. That way they can learn from and avoid the mistakes of imposing JEE/NEET tests

Why consortium is not releasing admit cards it's already more than 2 weeks the time (the time they had mentioned in their earlier notification). Is the exam getting postpone and if not then why don't they release the admit card rather than increasing the anxiety of students.

First signs of a possible pullback or compromise? https://theprint.in/india/education/no-plans-to-postpone-jee-neet-but-final-decision-lies-with-education-ministry-says-mha/489414/

Because someone is retiring? https://theprint.in/politics/lets-go-to-court-non-bjp-cms-band-together-to-move-sc-to-postpone-jee-neet/489619/

Hong Kong case was dismissed perfunctorily. How to dodge this now? https://theprint.in/health/two-confirmed-covid-19-reinfections-in-telangana-increase-concerns-about-immunity/489589/

How will Atmanirbhar bhakts in CLAT Consortium help the potential victims from test centres from these? https://theprint.in/health/disturbed-sleep-brain-fog-nerve-pain-can-torment-recovered-covid-patients-for-months/489762/

They may impose an undertaking on us (like JEE/NEET) that we are Corona free etc. Why should we give anything when the CLAT Consortium is unwilling to shoulder any responsibility of care? Do they think that having so-called "sanitized test centres" is the end of their responsbility?

These VCs cannot even run corruption-free administrations. Imagine what "sanitized spaces" we will get when things are outsourced to and through "near and dear ones".

http://livelaw.in/news-updates/domicile-reservation-goes-against-objective-of-national-law-school-bar-council-of-india-tells-karnataka-hc-162004

Understandably, NLSIU is slightly different from other NLUs because it was founded by the BCI. But the other arguments against domicile quotas, especially for those NLUs whose founding Acts did not have it, holds true, such as NUJS, NLUD etc.

While the SJA was able to stall the domicile quota for a year, it received absolutely no assistance from the famed alumni. Now that we have an "alumni association" will the alumni help?

Assuming several CLAT aspirants would visit this thread, and many of them do place reliance on the NIRF rankings, this is the true face of this sham of a process:
“Number of participants in the NIRF in 2020 has been more than 5,800. Collecting the original documents from all of them and verifying it is not possible. We expect the participants to be honest and believe that the competitors will check each others’ data.”
https://theprint.in/india/education/bhu-law-dept-bagged-19th-spot-in-nirf-rankings-now-it-says-it-has-no-data-to-back-that/486069/
Kian, try doing the same exercise with all NIRF top 10 ranker law universities. I am telling you right now that a lot of dirty secrets would be out in the open.

When are they going to release the admit cards it's already 3 days more that the time they had mentioned.
I guess they feel happy by burning students' blood by increasing the anxiety in them.

Contrast this http://livelaw.in/news-updates/nlsiu-not-a-state-university-govt-funding-very-minuscule-university-tells-karnataka-hc-162063 to how NUJS meekly accepted the domicile quota. Had it not been for students, NLUD admin also readily accepted and championed domicile quota.

BREAKING NEWS: As was feared in LI comments, crazy Mamata’s crazy “surprise lockdown” policy has seen a lockdown being declared on the day of CLAT. But this is probably preplanned. The NUJS Amendment Act provides for entry without CLAT. As students did not challenge it, Mamata will direct NUJS to admit children of TMC people through the backdoor via board exam marks, and eventually to quit CLAT. This is what happens when people allow themselves to be treated as doormats.

Yes, because the BJP is doing such a good job with central universities like Biswa Bharati in the state. Both these sides are equally cancerous.
