J Sagar Associates (JSA) advised existing adviser Info Edge on its Rs 57 crore-increased holding in Zomato Media, as Sequoia Capital also entered the company with Rs 170.6 crore ($27m), advised by Bangalore firm Themis Associates.

The popular Gurgaon-based restaurant and event-listing and review site was advised by its in-house team.

JSA Gurgaon partner Rohitashwa Prasad and senior associate Abhishek Shinde acted for long-standing client and Naukri.com-owner Info Edge, having also advised the fund on its Zomato investment in 2011. With its existing valuation this will raise its shareholding to 50.1 per cent, for a total investment of Rs 143 crore.

Themis partner Roshan Thomas, who had joined the firm in August from Lexygen, was leading for Sequoia, which is picking up around 17.2 per in Zomato, giving the company a post-money valuation of around Rs 1,000 crore, according to VC Circle. Themis declined to comment when contacted.

The over three-fold growth in Zomato’s revenue has helped it snag a valuation that is 25 times the expected revenue for fiscal 2014, experts told the Economic Times. The platform, founded in 2008 by a then 30-year old IIT graduate, has earned a revenue of Rs 11.4 crore in fiscal 2013 amid heavy international expansion and Rs 2 crore in the previous year.
