Satyajit Sarna & Associates (SSA) advised India’s newest publishing start-up Juggernaut on its fundraising from Fabindia managing director William Bissell who was advised by MPC Legal and German law firm De Giacomo & Associates, and Infosys co-founder Nandan Nilekani who was advised by investment advisors Entrust Family Office.

SSA founder Satyajit Sarna and associate Anirudh Soman acted for Juggernaut which was co-founded this year by former Penguin Random House India publisher Chiki Sarkar and Firstpost founder Durga Raghunath. Juggernaut formally launched operations yesterday, reported VC Circle. Sarkar had resigned from Penguin in April this year, along with four colleagues.

MPC co-founding partner Dipankar Vig and De Giacomo founder Angela De Giacomo advised Bissell.

Juggernaut has so far raised Rs 15 crore ($2.3m) in a mix of fundraising from this deal and other smaller investors, and will focus primarily on digital publishing and creating phone-browsing compatible models of book titles, which are different from e-books, reported the Business Standard.

Having marquee investors, as Juggernaut does, is a first for the publishing industry in India where the money usually comes from multinationals or home grown, family-run businesses, reported Scroll.
