Kanga, KhaiCo sell 18 acres in Andheri to developer for $178m

Khaitan & Co and Kanga & Co have assisted on the sale of more than 74,000 square metres of industrial real estate in Andheri East, Mumbai from Borosil Glass Works to Neepa Real Estate Private Limited for Rs 830 crore ($178m).

Khaitan & Co partners Pradip Khaitan, Haigreve Khaitan and Sudip Mullick acted for sheet glass and laboratory and kitchen glassware maker Borosil Glass Works.

Kanga & Co partners M L Bhakta and Dhaval Vussonji advised the buyer Neepa Real Estate, which acquired the 18 acre area for development.

“This was one of the high value real estate transactions of Mumbai. The payment of the entire sale consideration was made by the purchaser in a single tranche against execution of the final transaction documents and delivery of property,” noted Khaitan & Co in a press release.

True Khaitan is 'all over the news'. But not being in news doesn't mean others are not doing work. A look at ET everyday indicates the number of transactions going on which keep the other law firms busy. Besides there are so many transactions which are not even mentioned in newspapers. Khaitan is getting unnecessary exposure.

I guess there are partners in charge for 'being in news'

I see lot of anti Khaitan posts whenever there is news relating to it. Is it a bad law firm or do people in India feel that only Amarchand and AZB can be in the thick of things? I think Khaitan is doing reasonably well and more the number of good Indian law firms the better it is for both clients and legal professionals.

KhaiCo - is this how Khaitan is referred to informally? If not, the sub who shortened the name deserves all credit for such an ungainly abbreviation.
