Former Linklaters Singapore managing associate Pallavi Gopinath Aney is set to join Baker & McKenzie as a partner, an authoritative source has confirmed to Legally India.

She graduated from NLSIU Bangalore in 2004 when she joined Pathak and Associates followed by the Pathak-breakaway S&R Associates. She joined Linklaters in 2006, specialising in capital markets.

Her move was first reported by Bar & Bench.

1995 - 2005 was Jai S Pathak's era, the true Pathak....after ASP came in 2005 its more like Priyadarshini and Anand's Lala offices...8 million owed to Jones Day no wonder the breakaway...

We only get bits of information on the P&A-Jones Day and Anand-Jai breakup from comments, such as the ones above. Kian, not fair! Please could you interview: Gaurav Pachnanda, Ritin Rai, Darpan Wadhwa, Diya Kapur, PGA,Viral Mehta, Sanjeev Adlakha, Sandip Bhagat and Rajat Sethi, and tell us about what caused those events? Also, please tell us what ASP is presently doing - P&A's survival, even despite Jai's departure and the Jones Day breakup (which even Jones Day has mindfully kept hushed) has sparked my curiousoty:)

She's been the heart & soul of Linklaters' (erstwhile) India practice for over 5 years, widely considered one of the best CM lawyers in the Singapore market and extremely well regarded by clients and competitors alike (not to mention, her loyal coterie of juniors!).

People often make a big deal about inconsequential moves - but this is genuinely a huge loss for Links (which begs the question, what have Kevin, Dean et al. been smoking??) and a MASSIVE strategic hire for B&M.

What makes Pallavi's elevation to Partner even more impressive is her NLS batchmates in Singapore in capital markets are mere associates at other US law firms. Shows how much she has achieved at such a young age. Not since Rahul Guptan has an Indian lawyer become partner in an international capital markets space.
