AAP-led Lok Sabha campaign starts drive to impeach Justice KL Manjunath for alleged 'crores' of wealth

Four Lok Sabha Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MPs and others have collected signatures to impeach Karnataka high court judge Justice KL Manjunath, two months after the central government rejected the Supreme Court collegium’s recommendation to transfer him to Punjab and Haryana, reported the Indian Express.

The MPs would like the president to initiate Manjunath’s removal under Article 217 and 214(4) of the Constitution for “proved misbehaviour”, alleging “wealth disproportionate to his known sources of income”, “abused his position to amass several movable and immovable properties worth crores of rupees, disproportionate to his known sources of income”, hearing and deciding a petition in favour of a housing society where his daughter owned a plot, and “failing to declare his assets in violation of the Full Court Resolution of 1997”, according to the paper, which has seen the petition. The petition includes property registration deeds and other documents as annexes.

How is this AAP led? This party cannot lead itself, how can it lead a movement. Plus their strength is even less than 10% of the required votes to initiate this process. And they do not have any member in Rajya Sabha, where if this succeeds, the impeachment shall be investigated by.

Well, looks like you are already deep into the 'maintainability' of this impeachment!

The only 'relevant' question is, can Justice Manjunath (and indeed ALL other Judges) publicly declare his/their true assets and those of his immediate family members?

For each of the last 10 years?

Come clean Honorable Justices. Come Publicly Clean.

I am a practising advocate in Bangalore and I have appeared before Justice K.L.Manjunath in many matters, I personally do not know whether he is corrupt or not but I have only heard stories of him showing favouritism to advocates belonging to a particular community. Since I have appeared before him I can surely vouch for the fact that he is not kind to juniors/younger members of the bar and the poor juniors are subject to taunts by him. In one of the matters when a junior appeared and sought pass over he dismissed the case for non prosecution . Poor chap ever since that incident he stopped coming to the High Court. Kudos to AAP for initiating this move. Let us hope the central government investigates the allegations and if found true, takes appropriate action to weed out the black sheep. There cannot be smoke without fire. Otherwise people will loose faith in judiciary. There are several people who have suffered at the hands of Justice K.L. Manjunath. I am one of the victims of his actions.
