AIPMT 2016: 'The matter is over', says SC to last-ditch Saturday NEET challenge

The Supreme Court on Saturday refused to re-look at its order directing the holding of two National Eligibility Entrance Tests (NEET) for admission to under graduate medical courses for 2016-17.

While declining to entertain a plea for re-look at the order, the apex court bench comprising Chief Justice TS Thakur, Justice AK Sikri and Justice R Banumati said: “The matter has been argued before another bench. The matter is over.”

The court said this when a lawyer pointed out to the difficulties that students would face if they are asked to appear for NEET if they are not prepared for it.

The Supreme Court on Friday said that Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) will conduct the NEET on 1 May and 24 July, for admission to under-graduate medical courses as it had earlier directed.

SC we students are also the part for your country. You are there to do justice with us. Please conduct NEET only in one phase on July 24th. I hardly find anybody supporting the decision conducting the exam in two phases. Please go with the public interest.

State board students should be allowed to apply / attend Neet 2 also even if they have applied for AIPMT 15% seats (now Neet 1 for 100% seats).
AIPMT was for the 15% all india quota. How this can be now considered for the balance 85% of seats in state boards, that too making an announcement 3 days before the exams. Many state board students have applied AIPMT to give a try as the syllabus of this is in line with other board and not with the state board. They were hoping for the 85% state board quota. Now if the NEET 1 has been changed as the ELIGIBILITY CUM ENTRANCE test for the entire 100% quota, it is injustics to the state board students. The state board students now have some time for preparing the cbse syllabus and appear on 24th july. The state board students should be permitted to attend the neet 2 also, else it will not be fair. What is the mistake the state board students who have applied for AIPMT made? It is injustice to them and all state board students who are forced to write Neet 1 now (earlier 15% AIPMT all India quota) should be permitted to apply and attend Neet 2 also. Request MCI / CBSE board to consider this and issue a clarification on this TODAY

Extract from AIPMT brochure – 2016-
In compliance with the directives of the Hon'ble Supreme Court of India, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) would be conducting the All India Pre-Medical/Pre-Dental Entrance Test (AIPMT)- 2016, for the academic session 2016-17. This entrance test is being conducted for the 15% merit positions in the Medical/Dental Colleges of India as specified in the directive of Hon’ble Court and will be governed by the rules and regulations specified for the same by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India from time to time

Now how can this AIPMT rephrased as Neet 1 and that too for 100% seats within a short span of 3 days. It is injustice to state board students. State board students mus be allaowed to apply / write for the Neet 2 also even if they had written neet 1.
