Crest Law founder Dhyan Chinappa and 10 others designated seniors in Karnataka

Crest Law Partners co-founding partner and 1998 ULC Bangalore graduate Dhyan Chinappa was designated a senior advocate, alongside lawyers BM Shyam Prasad, DL Jagadish, G Krishna Murthy, M B Nargand, M N Sheshadri, M V Seshachala, R L Patil, V Lakshminarayana, Vivek Subba Reddy and YR Sadashiva Reddy in a second round of senior designations at the Karnataka high court, reported Bar & Bench.

Chinappa, who according to B&B is the youngest designated lawyer in this batch, started his career with Dua Associates and re-joined the firm after obtaining his LLM from ULC London in 2003. He set up Crest in 2006.

Four others, inlcuding one non-NLSIU alum Prabhuling Navadgi, were also designated in a previous round at the high court this month.

End of the day stories are stories and can be there about anyone... Law School movement was pioneered by Karnataka. If you are well prepared, no judge in Kar refuses to hear you, based on your age.. Now look at the acceptance and recognition given by the Kar HC to the youth!

Wow, Dhyan, congrats!! Seniorship in less than 15 years is super!

Would've liked to see Arun also being elevated. Sharp mind and a really really nice guy.

Shashi Kiran is the youngest with him turning 39 in September. Aditya is the second youngest with him turning 39 in Mid-July and Dhyan is the third youngest with him already being 39 years of age at the time of his designation.

In any case, the youngest at the Karnataka High Court was Justice Malimath, Sr, when he was appointed AG at 37 years.

Why is there only coverage about Dhyan Chinappa and not the other 10 Seniors? And what about the previous recent batch of 4? That was not reported but for one of their interviews. That too, because that senior is 'Non-Nls alumni' and so Navadgi deserves an interview while the others do not? FYI, both Chinappa and Navadgi are Judges' children who've gotten things way too easy. LI, what is the discretion you are using?

[...] How opaque is this process and how often has it been hijacked by judges kin through their not so subtle lobbying and canvassing? Such a sham system has to be stopped. Good enough reason for the entire system of designations to be stopped.
