Law student allegedly kills 1, injures 10 in drunk drive Porsche crash

Supreme Court advocate Vijay Anand’s son V Vikas allegedly killed an autorickshaw driver and injured 10 others in Chennai when his Porsche car rammed into 12 parked autorickshaws while drunk driving, reported several media.

Vikas and his co-passenger in the Porsche were saved from any injuries after airbags in the car deployed, and they escaped the crash unharmed, reported the Hindustan Times.

Vikas, who is reportedly a 22-year-old law student, has now been arrested by the police, according to the Indian Express.

Some of the autorickshaws were almost reduced to a crumped heap when the incident happened at around 330am today at Chennai’s Cathedral road, reported NDTV.

Vikas and his friend, a former Indian cricketer’s brother, were returning home after attending a party thrown by team Tuti Patriot which won the Tamil Nadu cricket premiere league, reported Deccan Chronicle.

Lawyer Janhavi Gadkar, who in 2015 while working at Reliance Industries as an in-house lawyer killed two while allegedly driving drunk in Mumbai, will likely appear in court tomorrow for charges against her to be framed.

How can the fellow driving be even remotely held responsible for what happened? The driver consumed what is legally sold and allowed by the state. The state financially benefits financially by sale of alcohol. Time for everyone to get educated abt this trap. State solely liable for what happened and under strict obligation to heavily compensate the parties, those in the car and those injured/dead and for all the property damaged/destroyed. One reason why we need to grow and start smoking ganja or drink Bhang, so good for entire family(in short go back to our roots). How badly we have been misled to stigmatise cannabis but openly consume rubbish alcohol.

Very sorry news. The accident has nothing to do with the driver being a law student, but it has everything to do with negligence. There was a useless loss of life. This guy rammed into 12 parked autorickshaws while drunk driving at 3:30 A.M. Most likely, these autos were parked back to back. I wonder what speed he was doing.

and that auto driver poor daughter become Orphan now..! by his reckless driving he made that girls life tougher..!! how pathetic our laws... he need to be in behind the bars for few years to know the meaning of life..!

Such accidents are bound to happen when we have people like Janhavi and Salman roaming scot free after crushing innocents under their wheels!
There is no deterrence to drunk driving, if you are high profile
