S&R Rajat Sethi follows Bhagat, moves from Delhi to Mumbai in corp drive

S&R Associates Delhi partner Rajat Sethi has moved to the Mumbai office of the firm as a “strategic decision” to bolster the corporate and private equity practice of the firm, reported Bar & Bench.

His move, increasing the partner headcount in Mumbai to three and reducing Delhi to five partners based there, follows Legally India reporting in 2010 that the firm’s founding partner Sandip Bhagat had moved from Delhi to Mumbai to set up in the city.

This plugs a big hole in S&Rs strategy. Trying to persuade clients that they take corporate seriously with all their corporate partners sitting in Delhi was difficult. Perhaps now they will start to lose their reputation as only a capital markets firm.

I have worked with Rajat before and he is a pleasure to work with. I am sure he will do brilliantly in Bombay.

S&R has some excellent partners in Rajat, Sandeep, Uday! Bhakta and Neeti. Niche but full service and visionary for the two senior partners to move bag and baggage to Mumbai. Rajat is very humble and an excellent technical lawyer.
