does providing of legal services online by a lawyer to his client prohibited under the Advocates act.
my only query is does proving of legal services by a lawyer online prohibited by Advocates act. eg. if a client has a particular budget like he has only 10,000 to spare for the availing services of a lawyer and he mentions his query online and various lawyers offer to provide that particular service in clients budget or even lower, will it amount to advertising by the lawyer. my point is that the client can compare the prices which the lawyer is charging for a particular service and choose the best service suiting his budget.the client will come to know which lawyer is charging him unnecessary fees. this is ultimately benefiting the client. will this be prohibited by the advocates act.
it would be great if members can contribute their valuable knowledge and help me answering my query.

According to the Advocates Act 1960 ,lawyers are prohibited from advertising in public domain qua the media, internet but it nowhere restricts, lawyers from giving online advice to clients. Presently there are forums/tribunals, which are running successfully online, wherein complaints can be filed online itself an example of such would be the accidental claims tribunal. Further the intention of legislature while framing the advocates act would be restricting advocates qua professionals from advertising and providing a free and fair opportunity to clients to choose their attorneys without keeping in mind the number of advertisements he has seen on the television or the internet. Applying this principle in the given facts it can be said that quotation of prices by different attorneys who have been approached by the clients would not attract provisions of the advocates act
