Why is an LPO job considered bad?

The general opinion seems to be that an LPO job is not worth taking, that it meant for only those who are just desperate for any kind of job and that it is better to go under an advocate who would pay you peanuts rather than join an LPO.
Is this really true? And why is an LPO job bad? I mean, they pay a decent package and their working hours are more or less the same as that of a law firm and i believe they give a lot of exposure to foreign laws. Then why do I hear people saying that to go into an LPO would be like ruining your career?
