Litigation in Delhi - Starting over
Hi all,
I need some advice. I just graduated from an unknown law college with 3 year LLB. So far have done a couple of decent internships (nothing great). I have a good academic record and pursuing CS. Have interned with a firm since the final exam and am now working with an advocate who practices a very niche area of litigation. I get paid decently but really don’t enjoy the work which is very repetitive! I don’t think I am learning anything and haven’t managed to make any headway with firms, advocates in Mumbai etc as i don’t have the necessary ‘jugaad’… Have managed to do whatever I have done without any contacts.
I’m thinking of relocating to Delhi as I’ve been told that there’s much more opportunity in Delhi for a junior with an advocate or a medium to small law firm. I really know nothing about litigation in Delhi. I am planning to just pack my bags and head there in September.
Need some guidance from advocates in Delhi… Would I be able to find some opportunity or does one need contacts to get a foothold and start somewhere???
Pls help!! I’ve spent all my life in Mumbai and the thought of moving to Delhi is scary yet exciting !! Would I be doing the right thing??

Dude my word of advice is not to come here. This place is teeming with lawyers and there are always a hundred to undercut you. Unless u already have an existing network or a close relatives here, it is pointless. There are a thousand lawyers who are just waiting to snoop down on your clients and take the vakalat from them undercutting you several times. I suggest u come down to Delhi courts and see things for yourself. I can bet you will never think of coming to Delhi again.
this is ur carrier ..whatever u thinks better u must go for it…if u finds delhi more better you must go…n this is also one of the best option…atleast you try if you thinks you can compete or manage ..den no issues..
I second him.
Thanks for your advice. I think that i will go and give it a shot anyway. Since I’ve just graduted there’s no better time than now to try it out..
