1) The placements are not good, hence the question of pay packages don’t come into play. You will have to pull hard for yourself to get a placement.

2) It’s arbitrary to say that faculty of law is the best. It’s quite good if you want it to be, and I believe the standard of examination is really high, but it doesn’t provide the same amount of value as nlsiu or nalsar according to employers.

But since you have already obtained a degree in commerce, a faculty of law degree might work out well for you. Do internships and fish for a PPO to get a job.

Another thing I wanted to ask was , what are the other option apart from joining a law firm ? what is the scope in govt ? What are the various exams ?

Govt jobs? you could work for organizations like SAIL/ONGC etc. They pay well.

You could apply for the judiciary.

Or just grow a pair and litigate.

As a graduate, you have limited options to study law at a great law school. Its useless to compare NLSIU, NALSAR with DU Law Faculty as you have no option of 3-year LLB at any National Law School. Your best options are DU, BHU, Punjab Univ, ILS Pune, GLC Mumbai. If you want to study 3-year LLB at a decent law school in India, only option is Jindal Global Law School in Sonipat. You should explore ILS Pune if affordability is an issue as Jindal is expensive.

Thanks everybody. Good old DU for me then. And in no way I will ever chose Jindal(sonipat) over DU,north campus. DU also gives the flexibility to do job side by side if one joins Law center 1. Half of DU’s LC1 is filled with IAS and other govt servants. So DU it is. Litigation does takes a pair but it is rewarding in the long term. Lets see.

I am from DU Law center-2 south campus evening college.Well the kind of crowd you get here has no comparison with that of NLS, here we have diverse crowd from the backgrounds like CA,MBA’s,Engineers. Level of teaching is quite good so is the latest course material along with flexibility to do jobs best of internships. I myself interned with two UN bodies, HC, district courts,Arbitration,NGO’s. So if you want to explore the real law join DU.You will get a placement on your own if you are capable.Again in NLU’s also its on you only to get a good company so is here.Only thing is you have to look on your own, but still its worth to do things on your own.

Remember its not the college to get you jobs, its your own hard work.

Along with DU llb Iam also thinking of applying for GLC and ILS . I have 79% in Graduation. I guess I will get through ILS not sure about GLC though. And I think GLC will be better than CLC in terms of placement and that one gets to intern throughout the year in GLC. I don’t know much about ILS. Another thing is I want to keep preparing for civil services , will that be possible in GLC ? And which institutes tag will help(along with participating/winning in moots and getting good marks) in getting me admission in foreign unis for llm or something.

Hi, in 2014 batch i will get DU LC2(south campus) for 3 yr llb. I also qualified for bhu llb. where shud i join? hw is LC2 as compared to LC1 and CLC at DU.

It will be very misleading to compare the average placements or even placements of DU and National Law Schools because of the huge difference in their student intakes.

While DU takes 2500 students each year National Law Schools take around 250 Approx.

(some National Law School take even less than 100)

Only thing they are serious about here in DU is attendance and examinations.

During my 1st semester, they detained 700 students for lack of attendance, which was 66% back then, now its 70% attendance mandatory.

Same is the scenario with examinations, checking is very strict with so high standards that less than 10% students pass without any back papers. :D
