Don’t do engineering if you don’t like it! I do not know the difference in pay between lawyers and engineers in India, but I imagine a successful lawyer will do better than a non-successful engineer. If you don’t like a field, you will probably have less of a change of success.

I also do not know what your problem is with chemistry and physics. Is it the math? Doing problems? Whatever it is, you could tough it out if you like something about the general field of engineering.

One other option is what my father did. He got an engineering degree and then went straight to law school. He became a patent attorney and was successful in that area.

Being an engineer I can advice you not to go for engineering if you are even slightly tilted towards other career options.

What happens is, you can learn all core technicalities being taught in the engineering colleges - as I can tell you are a very hardworking student. You will attain high scores and successfully graduate. But then starts the real challenge. The tips and tricks we learn in the labs are to be used creatively towards a new solution. Engineering careers are all about innovations - at the least, a new idea on the table every time. This never happens unless you have the passion to struggle with the problem. Ultimately, failing to do that, one always thinks of going back in time and taking the path they were more tilted to take.

So, consider the long term view and make the right decision.
