After death of proprietor in proprietary concern
Sir,
My father owned a proprietary concern firm . He passed away last year and I am his only daughter, my mother is no more, after his death ,a company from Mumbai with whom my father was in business with approached me, saying my father owes them Rs 10 lakhs. Now its more than an year after my fathers death, I paid them back 7.5 lakh’s rs and I will be paying them the remaining amount but will be needing some time. When I am asking and requesting for some more time, the company is threatening to sue me and are saying that i will have to pay damages and losses with interest as i have delayed the payment. They are threatening to sue me and my fathers brothers stating we are the legal heirs to my dad business. Please advise am i really in huge trouble, what is the amount damage they can do to me and how should i go a head with this issue.
