I am a US Citizen, living in US. My parents bought a flat in India using their own funds, and they executed a ‘Settlement Deed’, registered with the Sub-Registrar’s office in Chennai. The Settlement Deed specifies that after their time, flat comes to me.

They have since passed away.. My questions is: Do I need to approach Court of Law for inheritance or probate for ownership?

OR, do I already have the ownership now?
