ABOUT THE SEMINAR

The 20th century witnessed the revolution of computers with Information Technology which has fostered development in all over the world. The advent of science and technology espe-cially the computers — internet has facilitated the globalization of communications. The introduction of internet has created unparalleled opportunities for commerce, research, educa-tion, entertainment and public discourse. Though this technol-ogy is a great boon, it has its share of ill-effects. The advent of this technology has redefined the contours of white-collar crime. Cybercrime unheard of a few decades back and now is spreading its ugly tentacles all over society.

Cybercrime can happen to anyone who has an email-id, who is a member of a social networking website or even one who is doing on-line transaction to carry on business. Cybercrimes are offences committed against individuals or a group of indi-viduals with a criminal motive to intentionally harm the repu-tation of the victim or cause physical or mental abuse to the victim directly or indirectly using modern telecommunication. Such crimes may threaten not only to affects the individual’s privacy but also to affect our nation’s security and Integrity.

Many may not know the exact implications and usages of the cyber law to internet crimes targeting individuals. The present seminar aims to create awareness about the cyber laws, issues and challenges of cybercrimes towards the society among the students, academicians, professionals and others.

AIM AND OBJECTIVES OF THE SEMINAR

The aim and objective of the seminar is:

• To disseminate knowledge of the different forms of cybercrime in the 21st century.

• To understand the present Indian law regarding cyber-crime.

• To protect potential victims from cyber crimes and teach cyber safety and protection guidelines to the students.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR SUBMITTING PAPERS

The paper must be based on empirical research and theoretical perspectives relevant to the seminar themes. Those intending to contribute papers to the seminar should submit an abstract of 500 words in MS Word format through e-mail ((cybercrimeseminar2015[at-the-rate-of]gmail[dot]com).) The seminar commitee will review all the received abstracts and select the papers for presentations.
