10 things that might help you get through law school
-Radhika Agarwal (NALSAR University of Law, Hyderabad)
From being a high school graduate to a final year student in law school, I have come a long way… and while I am yet to figure out the road ahead, I do have a fairly good idea of what not to do while in law school.
- Do not live life in a CV-building manner.
- Do not network with people merely in the hope of “making contacts” you might need 20 years later.
- Do not do things you are not comfortable doing merely in the hope of fitting into law school.
- Do not let everybody else’s opinions drown your own inner voice.
- Do not follow the herd. Carving out your own way will be much more rewarding in the end.
- Do not compare yourself with your peers.
- There is neither any yardstick for measuring success nor any secret formula for making it to the top.
- You do not have to moot in law school if you do not wish to.
- Landing oneself a high paying job in a law firm isn’t the be all and end all of life.
- Lastly, do not panic if you are clueless about your future. It is perfectly fine to be uncertain about life after law school!
