If I am being prudent, I will tell you not to take another drop year because CLAT is unpredictable, and the consortium messes up a lot. Dropping another year won't guarantee you your desired NLU. Rather, join any law school and work hard there. But I am not prudent. I was in your place and I dropped another year. The heart wants what it wants, and I always wanted to be in a T1 NLU. I always dreamt of being in a top law school, competing against the best minds, and that’s exactly what I did—I achieved what I wanted. The choice is yours to make. If being in a T1 law school matters to you to the point that you won't be able to sleep at night and will be filled with regret, then go ahead, take another drop year, and achieve your glory. But if being a lawyer is more important to you, then don't waste another year preparing for CLAT. Also, there is no point in giving a partial drop; it's either all or nothing.

i prepped heavy for clat 2024, realised shortcomings in the GK and Math section. I have been the top of my classes for an entire year, My gut feeling says taking a partial drop and writing clat 2025 one LAST TIME with all my might in the last 4 months, I know i have the potential and there's room for growth. I just wanna go ALL OUT ONE LAST TIME.

I was flabbergasted to know that NLS students of 2 sections were comparing CLAT tanks of their professors, X got rank 1. So what, Y also got rank 2. How you perform in entrance exam doesn't define how you do in your college, let alone your profession. For instance, top 10 in my class in NLU were not the exclusively the ones who scored good clat ranks, some who came from reserved categories also performed exceptionally well.

They all pass med schools before they enter practise. Reservation is only to ensure their entrance into the med schools.

Their performance as doctors will be equally good as they've also studied and passed the med school. If you rank the med school, I'm sure there'll be good number of sc st ews obc students ranking above those who got through general merit. Nevertheless, they all qualify the standard set by the educational institute to practise as a doctor as they pass all the subjects during their course of study.

Also, in medical profession, It's not only the brute merit but compassion and ethics that has huge impact on ailing population. Usually a person who has seen difficult situation during childhood including those from marginalised backgrounds would be willing to go to that extra edge in serving the downtrodden.

How bad is this. Highest campus offers, low attritions are there for all to see. What is being contested here. Animosity and hatred should also have some restraints so that at least the narratives dont start sounding stupid. If a firm breaks the dominance of tier 1s swiftly, it is good for the eco system and should be celebrated. Its not chest thumping. Simple facts for people to see with their own eyes. Yes absolutely the point. Pls dont mislead young lawyers and students due to your high level of jealous with the firm who has grown so much without spending decades of course. Let them get evaluated on merits, be it basis their low attrition levels, highest campus offers or market leadership etc. Let people speak to their peers, alumni, seniors there and decide for themselves. Dont make LI a platform to vent out your anger for reasons best known to you. So much so in the name of public interest that your cribbing is sounding ultra fake. Tbh, I would recommend you neither. Rajani used to solid work in this space, but in this bull run of a lifetime, Rajani hasn't worked on any major deal except a few small ticket rights issue. CAM on the other hand won't immerse you in the work and not make a part of the deal thereby heavily curtailing your learning. Would suggest you try a long term arrangement with Crawford, Viplaw is doing solid work, one in every fice QIP has crawford as a counsel. Also, avoid Kanga at all costs, the rowdy merchant bankers they work with are really not worth your time.

Rajani, stick there long term, get absorbed, work for a year and see how many tier 1s will approach you for lateral hiring. Sangeeta is known to train her lawyers well plus ECM is one of Rajani's core practice area anyways.

SLSP 4th year here. Have got 8+ GPA for all sems except 2nd Sem (which was online anyways).

Yes, its possible to get 8+GPA or CGPA. But you really need to work hard, since your first GPA itself is in the 6s. My own CGPA is now 8 after 6th sem, that too only because I got a 7 in 2nd sem. You need to get at least an 8 (minimum) for the next 2-3 years continously to ensure that your CGPA touches 8. For that, it is critical to ensure that you get a minimum of As in your externals, as they are much easier to get since there is a pattern of PYQs being repeated, so you'll have an idea as to what to study for. If you start studying even lets say 1 month before the start of your exams, you would be able to pull that off. As for internals, one set would be a written test (try to score well in that) and the other is usually a research paper. The latter may not always ensure that you get good grades, but the former would, if you have studied well and if you know how to write answers.

Coming to whether a 8 CGPA matters or not, well it depends on what you want to do and how well connected your parents/relatives are. If your parents are in the profession/know someone well in the profession, which can ensure that you get a job/place where you want (be it corporate/companies/chambers), you need not worry so much. However, it does not hurt to maintain a good CGPA - it can help you sit for placements/internships, it is one of the most important if not the criteria for placements/what firms look at, and also helps in your applications for Masters abroad. If your parents are not so well connected, well then- you should start working hard.

I don't want to boast or give you the wrong picture or anything, but you need not study 2 months prior to for getting a 8+ GPA. I know people who studied the night before and have gotten Os in their final grades and got 8+GPA. However, that is too risky. Make sure you study well about 1 month in advance, know what to study, where to study from, and how to write answers. All the best!

This year, NLS & SAM are organizing the Fintech Moot. As someone who participated in the last edition (which was organized by SAM & NUJS), I'd advise prospective participants to be clear that you won't be provided any participation certificate for the competition. Even after multiple requests, the organizers haven't even provided certificates for the 2023 edition (and from what I've learnt, the delay is from the firm's side). So, in case you need the certificate for submitting it to the recruitment committee, etc., its better to avoid the moot.

i understand if u were a fresher who couldnt land a job at a law firm but ive seen far too many people who spend years getting underpaid at chambers, why so? why not switch to a law firm and increase your pay? they say that in the long-term if you build your own clients you'll earn more but isnt that too big a risk to take for very little reward? people obviously cant be that stupid, or are they?
