We want LI to be one of the friendliest places on the internet, where lawyers and law students help each other with their career related queries and occasionally discuss other stuff that might affect their lives too. In other words:
1. Be kind, respectful and helpful to each other.
2. Be bona fide, truthful, genuine and curious.
3. Assume the best intention of others.

As for the NLU thing, I think you're playing into (that comment's) OP's hands. Anyone who did some basic research would know that the NLU institutions are public. And you still haven't responded to the IDIA point. It is exactly the point the angry guy is making. IDIA may have been at a public uni, but it ain't government-supported.
And as for this entire thing of Free School Meals getting cancelled, that is doubtful (I don't know enough), and the UCU protest, I really get the anger on this one. Just because other countries have problems means we should as well? You UPSC types have learned way too well from the Russians. Classic Russian dark humour: things are shitty elsewhere, so let's not do anything to ensure they become less shitty here, as long as that means that our own lives are not-so-shitty. The classic UPSC mentality.
Not to undermine any of the Rhodes scholars. Feel free to admire them and aspire to it. The mistake this thread makes is in underestimating the UPSC's capacity to change your life and the power it gives you to change many people's lives.
Helped a client fix a case of his in front of the apex market regulator. Put in a lot of effort and convincing on both ends. Lot of back and forth. Finally Deal done. The officer (in the regulator) backed out at last moment yesterday.
Was gonna make 1cr. in the deal. Lost it now. First time doing such things and amounts to a big zero.
Wasted tonnes of energy and time on it also. Pissed off as hell. Ruined a lot of effort and my weekend too.
Now the client's gonna be pissed at me too.
Note - Self righteous people / trolls / Moralistic advice givers please don't comment. You are not welcome.
Rant over. Frustration Continues.
Thought you were being hyper but then I saw the intro page for nluj 29
NLIU > NLUJ
NALSAR > NLUD
NLUD << NALSAR
NLIU << NLUJ
GNLU << NUJS
They also arrange writing competition with internship opportunity and they post Blog- writable content on LinkedIn. Their goal is to serve the community.
ICL and others blogs work for their names; whereas, IRCCL works for students.
[Notable difference: 1. Competition with internship opportunity, 2. promotes writing culture via LinkedIn posts, and 3. They provide helpful reviews for rejected articles so that authors can rewrite and publish elsewhere [MOST IMPORTANT & COMPLETELY SELFLESS].
I'll summarize it in brief. Initially I was interested in corporate and used to take up a lot of online legal writing internships to get some publications thinking it would help.. but it did not help. So I just went with the flow and took whatever random internships I could secure with help of our placement cell and sites like Law bhoomi and Lawoctopus. Now I have done 4 offline internships during law school.. Disputes at a T1 firm, IP at a boutique law firm, IP internship at FICCI, and one internship at some Z tier boutique firm where I got random and diverse work. The online ones were all legal writing or drafting ones. Is it possible for me to join a law firm or an in house counsel role? If yes then what skills I must develop beforehand and if not then what else shall I do? The point is that I want to start working and more importantly earning ASAP while I figure out life cause being both jobless and lost would be bad for mental health.
Looking forward to your insights!
There are schizophrenics who think that theyre actually a dog or a chicken- does that sincere belief make them a dog or a chicken? Clearly its not just self perception that makes identity. If most of society would look at a butch lesbian and call her a man- does she become a man? is she no longer a woman because society has tarnished her that way? clearly its not external validation either. If most of society believes that a flying monkey god moved a mountain for an herb- or if most of society believes we should stone gay people- does that make those things true? Should we be basing laws on beliefs of this nature that are unevidenced and have no basis in material reality?
If gender is a social role and sex is based on biology. Please explain to me what social role men or women are playing in society. What is the social role that transgender women feel like they’re playing that they should be lumped in with cis women ? Explain how it’s not based on stereotypes?
What are provisions for men and women provided by law ? Be specific ? As far as I know the constitution prohibits discrimination based on sex except to provide protections for females in certain areas. Do we not think that women - females - deserve protection from sex based crimes and deserve maternity benefits and deserve investment in all women schools and colleges ? Do you think it’s unfair that men don’t get to use those ?
So anyone who isn’t following a male dress code or behaves effeminately isn’t a man ? Most gay men dress and act differently- some gay men are extremely flamboyant - do you think they aren’t men ? Should we let the most orthodox and bigoted members of society decide what men and women are ? If a little boy wants to play with dolls should we rush him to get medically altered so he’s now a “girl”? That seems the opposite of progressive no ? Most Indian men don’t have body builder bodies - are they not men then ? If a man is born with a micro penis ( an intersex condition btw) is he not a man ?
If it’s just saying you’re not a man - why is it limited to gender ? Can I say I’m a Dalit and claim reservations ? Can I say I’m black ? Can I say I identify as wealthy and the bank has to give me money ? It’s the only identity group you can identify into ? Why ? Do souls have genders ?
Try to think what your future clients would want to know and blog around that - start your own blog - thank me later
I pity...
This profession attracts only Grade C students.
1. Relentless trolling and vicious attacks against Sudhir Krishnaswamy, by jealous tier 2 college guys who have never set foot inside NLSIU and are resentful that Sudhir is improving the institution with his excellent faculty hires.
2. Similarly, non-stop attacks against Jindal despite Jindal doing better than many NLUs in the placements and foreign scholarships scene — again, by jealous and resentful people, who are also angry that Jindal-ites are wealthy (as if you guys don’t aspire to become wealthy and send your children to good universities).
3. Likewise, attacks against NUJS NRI quota students. FYI some of the most successful NUJS alumni are from the NRI quota and an NRI quota girl alum has just been awarded the Salve scholarship at Oxford this year.
4. Then, further hate against those going abroad for LLMs. You are either a traitor to your country and a bootlicker of the white race, or a spoilt rich kid — because, of course, we must opt for third-rate LLM courses at NLUs and be called “Lallams” by you lot!
5. Comments in Hindi, in blatant disregard of those who are not comfortable with Hindi. I speak Hindi and have scored good grades in Hindi in school, but I would never speak in Hindi in front of a pan-India crowd, as there are people who are from the South, Bengal, North East etc. Please show this courtesy too. It’s absolutely fine if you throw in a common Hindi word here and there, eg bindaas, jugaad or chapri ( as I have done). The English language happily absorbs words from foreign languages. But please don’t type entire sentences in Hindi!
6. Finally, a sharp increase in aggressive, abusive, incel-like language (which is strangely missed by moderators).
Downvote and abuse me all you want, you’ll only be validating my comment.
How many of us get such access?
VCs in NLUs too get the job through connections, access etc. And then it becomes all about personal enrichment, traffic in favours etc. Maybe RK is doing that as well. But the univ has been a great investment for Jindal and it has done very well in a short span of time.
Almost all NLU VCs would have completely wasted similar opportunity, tenure etc. For all his faults, Messiah on paper has been very successful at NLS
1. Enroute Law (Don't respond after collecting CVs)
2. Avimukta (Same issue)
3. Vahura (Max PR)
Some names I can think of -
1. Team at Spice Route - they did wonderful job with salary marketing and creating a buzz
2. Yavnika Shah - Induslaw, guess she has worked as external consultant too for law firms
3. Pintu Babu - NDA - He is very active in the space
4. Priyan Garg - Khaitan - The oldest name I have heard of in the space who markets his own brand quite well
