We want LI to be one of the friendliest places on the internet, where lawyers and law students help each other with their career related queries and occasionally discuss other stuff that might affect their lives too. In other words:
1. Be kind, respectful and helpful to each other.
2. Be bona fide, truthful, genuine and curious.
3. Assume the best intention of others.

Remains a mystery how the same SJA, which couldn't evict PIB in 2016 was able to do so in 2018 and certain handpicked Registrar scooted only to return when NKC took charge.
Faculty howled, petitioned etc against PIB only when a "star" faculty who had fallen foul with PIB and led the charge. PIB's image got dented but the regime remained very much in control. Instead the agent provocateur exited.
SJA needs to fight its own fight and stay away from warring faculty factions. Don't piggyback nor host parasites.
Before you ask alumni for help, what about the alumni teach? If they haven't acquitted themselves, why bother requesting assistance from alumni on this issue. Instead carefully scrutinize offers of unsolicited help.
It started with the candidate selection. And everything went downhill thereafter. Even core BJP supporters were left fumbling and twiddling. For all the big talk, the following seats were literally gifted on a platter to TMC;
1. Kolkata South
2. Jadavpur
3. Barasat
4. Diamond Harbour
5. Sreerampore
6. Bolpur
7. Krishnanagar
8. Asansol
9. Medinipur
10. Hooghly
11. Ghatal
BJP in Bengal isn't really fighting in 42 seats. At best 30.
Also, don't want reservations to go 70/80%. Call it selfish or narrow minded or conservative or whatever you wish, but yes it matters to me, and it affects my progeny.
Litigation or Corporate?

Strangely HT published a report in its Bangla edition. Also Millennium Post, largely seen as pro-TMC, also published a belated report.
ABP group, especially from all its print edition has had to shed a huge number of employees, closed bureaus and editions. It's troubles began well before COVID and deepened after 2021 state election.
ABP News is a different story. TMC has had a love-hate relationship with its Bengal division (ABP Ananda). Right now, the pro-BJP slant of ABP Ananda is qute evident and TMC has stepped up its hostility.
In India, buy a Titan.
Are Kohinoors/Vihaan good for office wear?
if I have to live off-campus what are the disadvantages of that?
Say, I want the option of moving to Singapore, US or Europe - which could be the areas of law I should specialize in?
My current preference is International Taxation as I'm seeing other people make international careers out of it. I've been fascinated by the subject as it provides the right amount of intellectual challenge I believe I need.
If it matters : I am starting my fourth year at a decently known private university with good academic records. We don't rely on our placement cell much but can get into good places with sheer determination. I'm committed to giving my 100 percent over the next few years to build the career of my dreams.
so by simple math about 0.25 people out of a 100 clear all the levels in one go
CA has even lesser pass percentages cuz more students appear for it and yeah I agree CA has more jobs and scope compares to cs but also keep this in mind there are 400k+ CAs in I ndia as compared to mere 70K for CS.
get ur facts right vakil sahab :)
Unfortunately KCO believes its financially better for them to hire and train new people rather than spend money on retaining talent. Unlikely to have an immediate repercussions given the big brand and a large pipeline of potential hires, but quality of work is bound to go down in long term. Hope the ones leaving have more fulfilling lives at the newer places.
My understanding is that internal working and coordinations is absolutely hay wire hence
I have no love for the TMC folks (camouflaged or otherwise) in the GC, EC, FC etc. But when the "worthies" you name were there what was their actual contribution? Despite the worthies, PIB was not only brought in but was given a full second term (by then both the Justices Mathur and Sinha Inquiry Reports had clearly established institutionalized corruption involving UGC grants)? Lord Taluk was allowed to accelerate the decline and then a thrice-rejected candidate NKC (he was rejected by NLUs Lucknow, Ranchi and Mumbai) was allowed to take over.
Scams, inquiries derailed/hushed up and new modes of corruption continue despite worthies. And the less you expect from DYC, the better. Do you actually want it in writing from the poor chap.

1. "The judge donated money... in plain violation of a rule prohibiting New York judges from making political donationsβto a pro-Biden, anti-Trump political operation." 2. Alvin Bragg boasted on the campaign trail in an overwhelmingly Democrat county, βIt is a fact that I have sued Trump over 100 times.β 3. "Most importantly, the DAβs charges against Trump push the outer boundaries of the law and due process." 4. "The charges against Trump are obscure, and nearly entirely unprecedented. In fact, no state prosecutor β in New York, or Wyoming, or anywhere β has ever charged federal election laws as a direct or predicate state crime, against anyone, for anything. None. Ever." 5. The DA inflated misdemeanors past the statute of limitations and "electroshocked them back to life" by alleging the falsification of business records was committed 'with intent to commit another crime.' 6. "Inexcusably, the DA refused to specify what those unlawful means actually were β and the judge declined to force them to pony up β until right before closing arguments. So much for the constitutional obligation to provide notice to the defendant of the accusations against him in advance of trial." 7. "In these key respects, the charges against Trump arenβt just unusual. Theyβre bespoke, seemingly crafted individually for the former president and nobody else." 8. "The Manhattan DAβs employees reportedly have called this the βZombie Caseβ because of various legal infirmities, including its bizarre charging mechanism. But itβs better characterized as the Frankenstein Case, cobbled together with ill-fitting parts into an ugly, awkward, but more-or-less functioning contraption that just might ultimately turn on its creator."
Obviously, anyone who doesn't drink is not forced.
A lot of people land their first job after graduating. The key is to keep interning and expressing that you're looking for a permanent role.
All the best!
