We want LI to be one of the friendliest places on the internet, where lawyers and law students help each other with their career related queries and occasionally discuss other stuff that might affect their lives too. In other words:
1. Be kind, respectful and helpful to each other.
2. Be bona fide, truthful, genuine and curious.
3. Assume the best intention of others.

Iām an IBC lawyer, planning to switch to a general financing practice.
I have two offers: 1) a team which does insolvency restructuring and structured finance; and 2) a full fledged financing team.
Can I request the SAs/PAs/Partners here to guide me in terms of future prospects for both the practice areas? The pros and the cons?
Thank you.
@Moderator request if you could please quickly publish this, as I need to accept one of the two job offers by Monday. Thanks.
It was only a matter of 5 working days left with a presentation at the last day. My self esteem has taken such a beating that I can't face anyone now. I came back home crying everyday, still doing pending tasks I was too slow to get over with during the day. Today I mailed the HR at 10 pm saying that I want to end the internship with immediate effect due to preponing of semester exams ( a shitty excuse) and had the audacity to ask for certificate 'as only a week was left'. Part of me feels happy that I won't ever have to go there and can finally be left to my own devices. But on the other hand everything feels bleak. I wasted my time, money, resources and along with a slot that could have gone to a deserving candidate. Not to mention burned bridges with all people there due to my inefficiency. It was a coward loser type of move which I felt necessary to protect my left over fragile self worth. I might as well be having a nasty combo of undiagnosed social anxiety and depression since I avoid and hate meeting people. Even generally my sentences are never longer than a few sentences and answers mostly monosyllabic. I don't see myself getting employed anywhere with this attitude or surviving for long in this competitive world. I'm in my mid twenties nearly graduated and jobless. I don't know what to do. Please suggest something anything.. did I make the right choice? How to get out of this rut? Do you guys also have similar stories to share ?
It has to do with the basic economics, people who invest in pre coaching for IIT's or SAT's tend to get better scores than the ones who did not took any pre coaching because it requires money! Cast and color is not the issue here. -_-
Worst: administration, campus location
Other things are somewhere in between
Sid was justified in leaving and I think his coming back is more of a heroes arc- but other people could think he was perhaps impractical to leave nls the way he did all those years ago and his coming back now is some recognition of the way in which law school is not really replaceable or easily replicated in other universities.
But according to the above link, "Professor Mehta is stepping down from administration to focus full-time on research at JGU". So unlikely he is going to take over Raj's position?
Furthermore, what is the scope of their questions in the interview?
beyond filling the preference list in the clat form, who actually cares about x nlu v y nlu???
The nature of practice demands super extra efforts. Life will go for a toss- no doubt. That is at every place where you have good deals.
The team has relatively good culture when you compare it with rosy places like AgedB, Shaitan and Co, SCam, ShAM, TRyEagle. Work hours may be more or less.
PS: This is from a source who has been working there for years.
But still, there are some rare good teams, where the above will hold true only when there is a neck to neck situations.
1. Aashit Shah or Utsav Johri or Anish Mushroomwala or Tirthankar Dutt at JSA
2. Rohit Raghavan at Saraf
3. Karan Mitroo or Girish at Luthra
4. Ishan Handa or Anand Shah at AZB
5. Mallika Chopra or Pranav or Kanak at Trilegal.
Feel free to add to this list.
Why is it so and is time to change things?
I need help regarding following points
1)Is SLS pune worth it ( for a education loan)
2) if I am selected by PI and I get GLC/ ILS should I drop SLS P
3) after getting into one of these institutions is it worth it to give another CLAT attempt
Attendance is not strictly enforced,yet
Faculty at PGCL isn't any great either. Even you can read from bare act since you know how to read english.
Few professors at glc (pithawalla, daswani etc) are senior & exceptionally good at their subjects
Branding helps.
Although glc is not what it used to be, at least for next 10-15 yrs will recommend it over pgcl
just check their placement website glcplacements.com
As for Gurgaon courts...don't even get me started. I have seen clients ask lawyers to return their appearance fee because "matter got adjourned", and "aaj to kuchh hua hi nahi fees kis baat ki", when the lawyer (who we happened to know) had spent 2 whole nights preparing their last-minute bail matter and a lot more. So Counsel Venting: Calling out all Shameless clients who want to get work done for free.
It usually depends on openings and vacancies (based on attrition and expansion of work).
For 2024 batch, Iāve seen few PPOs being given as late as last month April.
So, itās not that SAM wonāt hire at all after Day-0 but the possibility is highly randomised depending on the above mentioned factors.
I've read and understood the fact that firms rarely, if ever, hire year 1 students for internships. However, I came across a senior's comment here on LI, in which he said that he interned for the legal counsels of small/mid-tier MNCs in his first year and went up from there. My interests lean majorly towards corp. so I really don't wish to spend time interning at courts.
I'd be really grateful if some of you could add to the guidance he provided.
1. Encourage women into legal education by providing them with incentives.
2. Legal education reforms should align with NEP 2020.
3. Inclusion of emerging subjects (AI, Cybersecurity, Bio-ethics, Robotics)
4. Integration of mediation into the curriculum.
5. Integration of computer education into the curriculum.
6. No recognition for online LLB/LLM/MA(Law/BA (Law) degrees.

Round 2: 1 Partner and 1 Counsel
Round 3: EP and HR
every round had a gap of a week to 10 days.
I won't take names, I can confirm or deny though if you put it out
P.s. - I don't have any other back up option for now but also I come from middle class family and Mumbai is an expensive place to do internship. Please guide me!
Hope you're all doing average,
This is in relation to an anonymous house party to be hosted by me. We all need to blow off some steam outside our rigorous careers and endless hours. In this regard, why not get together and rant about law firms at a party instead of LI?
Interested people may bump this thread to set up something fun in the coming weeks.
Regards,
Your friendly neighbourhood PartyPooper.

This they had to report. A lot of the details were circulating in the public domain. Of course the EC worthies are blissfully unaware.
I'm experiencing crazy levels of imposter syndrome ahead of joining as an associate at a firm I loved interning at. It's making me nervous to the extent that I fear starting the job. Please help- advice, anecdotes, anything really....
After rigorous internships I finally landed a job in a respectable firm that I like - I like the environment, the people, the work etc and to some extent, even the pay. Everything seems great. Except that after college and exams got wrapped up, I've been thinking about what kind of colleague/junior I'd be and I feel inadequate.
I'm well acquainted with the people I will be working with and I fear their judgment. I fear the judgment of my immediate seniors, my to-be bosses and the only thought I have is - "What if they realise they made a mistake?" That's how bad it is.
How do I overcome it? Has anyone else felt this way? Share anything that would help...Thanks !
Good faculty is important obviously, but painting it as the only relevant factor in an NLU's standing is disingenuous.
