No kind of LLB, go for Medicine or Engineering (not the usual streams). Also, first clear CLAT and get a top law school, then choose BBA, the kind of subjects they teach in BA will make you lose interest in law, the good thing is that BA subjects make your life easier in law school because they require less efforts to pass.

Firstly, BBA LLB will include subjects such as finance, management, marketing and so on whereas BA LLB will include subject such as history, philosophy, logic, etc. (stating this because you confused the two in your post).

BBA LLB does involve a bit of math, but it is similar to the simple interest compound interest stuff (not as easy, just in the same area). I will say that commerce students were able to get a hang of it easily as compared to students from other fields (my observation, ultimately it depends on the student).

Ultimately, it does not have a lot of impact on your final job - you can choose BA LLB and go into GenCorp, but it does help to have that knowledge.

Also, there is a chance you may switch your 'chosen' field of law, so don't make a decision on the basis of that, just choose what comes easily to you and what you feel like studying.

If you do choose BBA LLB, continue practicing sums because it is the easiest way to score marks.

Also, if you come from a science background, if possible, why don't you opt for a BSc LLB/BTech LLB?

So I come from a science background and I have to choose between BALLB or BBALLB. Now most people say that choose whatever you're interested in, and that's good advice but the issue is that I am interested in both. On one side, I am interested in intellectual pursuits such as philosophy, history, political theory, etc and on the other side I am focused on capitalistic pursuits such as financial markets, businesses, entrepreneurship, startups, economics. So naturally, it becomes a very difficult choice for me. I am interested in both of them to the extent that if I choose one, I'll still be studying about the other in one way or another. If I choose BA then I'll still study about markets, businesses, equities, derivatives, startups etc and If I choose BBA, I'll still study about philosophy and other theories etc. I tried downloading and reading a few books and it seems like bba would have subjects like accounting, quantitative techniques etc which made me feel intimidated because of the maths involved in them. I'd love some advice coming from someone who has done either or has some experience. Kindly help me out.

I've lost hope and don't see a point now ahead. The last date for placement subscriptions has ended and I will surely miss out in everything. For any future students, please do not EVER TRUST the offers of one firm, especially JSA . Always keep trying elsewhere everytime. And NEVER miss out on college placements even if u have an offer at hand.

A lot of firms go awol with students if they already have a prior relationship with your college. Considering you are from a top uni there is a good chance they have a prior relationship with your college. Reach out to your college rcc, and ask them to handle it from there. if they are still awol, raise it with your rcc faculty head. Usually even in the worst case scenarios they usually respond with this escalation. If not raise it with your mentor/buddy and then loop your partner in (I am assuming that the above scenario only deals with hr)

Why don't you approach the RCC of your top tier college?? Like honestly, even if the Internship was not through them, involving them into such issues and possibly taking an action through them will certainly get a solution to your situation. Also those proofs needs to be disclosed in its entirety with your RCC, they can help you better than people here.

Here’s the correct answer. AI will take over those legal fields where there is order, discipline and standardisation, which is true for most commercial law subjects. AI will struggle to take over those legal fields whether there is disorder, indiscipline and no standardisation, which is subjects like property law, criminal law etc. So the unglamorous subjects presently practised by lowly TLC grads will actually be the ones that will survive. The NLU grads working at CAM and SAM will be fretting and become jobless.

So to AI-proof your career, join an old-school litigation chamber and practise old-school subjects. No money in the first 10 years, but you’ll make it up later.

There is a massive anti India sentiment in the west right now. Just ask anyone living in Canada, Australia or even the US right now.

Firstly, your intent must change. I never met any person who got published at "prestigious places" because they wanted to be spruce up CV. Write quality with originality with the intent to advance scholarship first, and rest second. It will by itself get published at the best places.

I agree. It already has started becoming one. At the ground level, small organizations don't want to spend much on legal cost. Having an in-house legal counsel is a financial burden. Most of the work, the top directors/management try to it by themselves. A Software Contract will already have to go for review in the eyes by the individuals involved in operation/execution. As for the basic draft to have a contract, you already have AI and templates ready. Fine-tuning it as per the requirements and deliverables is best done by the team executing the work. Why will you have lawyers here? At least you don't need a permanent employee for it.

Similarly you see, the legal shops such as firms and chambers are able to mint money only because of the volume of work. Legal services otherwise have very low value. Slowly and steadily, the work shall decrease OR at least, the value of the services shall remain constant, which may decrease as we approach more advancements technologically. Meaning, organizations shall look for generalists who can handle more work across departments. It won't matter whether you have BA LLB, BBA LLB, or even B.Tech or B.Pharma. Your ability to fluidify as per the work shall matter, in the nearer future.

Personal Opinions...

I work in IP. It’s scary how technical the cases are becoming. Leave aside patent law, even copyright and trademark infringement cases are nowadays very tech-focused and intertwined with cyber law concepts. I would have greatly benefited if I had learnt basic coding in college, plus a course in cybersecurity. Also, learning about investing and markets is a basic life skill. That should be taught too.

DU FoL just surpassed 15+ NLUs in cut-offs, when the first batch hasn't even graduated, and it is called a shake-up (I haven't even spoken about the cut-offs in NFSU Delhi this year). So much for NLUs being miles ahead. I love this confidence - even if it is fake.

This is talking about just the law domain. If I expand the discussion to include other schools and departments in NFSU, it is in a different league altogether.

I am a 2024 graduate completing 1 year at an in-house position. Wlb is great but the learning curve has been pretty slow and not the most fulfilling. I see upsides and downsides to this, what are my options?? And would firms be willing to hire or should i stick around for some more time and then pivot? Genuinely frustrated, pls dont troll

They do a lot of M&A and PE work, including in healthcare, pharma, and projects, but also handle general corporate and advisory matters. The work is high caliber. As it's a lean team (Partner, SA, and 2-3 associates), juniors get significant exposure early on (great experience, but not the best place if you're looking to coast). The Partner is reasonable and non-toxic, and the team reflects the same culture. On vacancies, I hear they are a bit selective - they recently hired two associates. However, as it's a new team with a high workload, they could be expanding soon. Hope this helps!

Decent firm. Decent pay. More of commercial litigation work than securities (MP is known for securities). Great on the surface. However, all is not good. No guidance. No senior with experience. Seniors ladies lack preliminary knowledge of law and juniors are often frustrated with their approach. Best join if you do not have any other offers.

It depends on the environment your placed in to approach the right person, usually you must start by asking any of the associates you've been working along with about who would be potentially more approachable for your request in the team. Take an Idea and always go make such requests to people at the top most in the Hierarchy as they've been in your shoes too at one point of their careers and don't shy away while doing so. As, if opportunity missed, you'll regret for life and it will always be great to at least take a NO rather than ending your Internship just thinking you'll ask them through mail, which they would not pay a heed to. Hope corporate law firms get it into their thick heads that they're not avengers and not saving the world! Just passed out in May this year and took up a job at an in-house and chilling while I have orientation for 2 months. Been hearing from my friends who are all slaving away at corp law firms for equal or lesser salaries! One of them goes to office at 9, comes back at 9 and continues to work till 3 am. And this is not a one day thing but regularly. Another friend has no weekends off and even 1 day he has off he has to take calls? And another of my friends had to stay overnight for 3 days in her office to finish a work, which was falsely portrayed to her as due by that Thursday, when in fact it was due only by the Next Monday??? No work life balance, no time to pursue hobbies, no time to relax even in office. For whose benefit do law firms drive their employees so f%%®% hard? No groundbreaking work is done. All you get is a bunch of balding/ grey haired 24 year old jumping from tier 1 to tier 1 while the next expendable stooge replaces them from our useless NLU's!!!!!!
