I'm in the same boat, although I realised this way back in 2023, during my 4th year. In the past year, although I'm keeping Judicial Services as an option and do prepare for it, I've majorly pivoted for government and banking exams. RBI/SEBI/IRDAI is very difficult to crack, as there's a lot of competition. The best bet is SSC/RRB/IBPS. Although keep in mind it's a 1-2 year process. I'm not yet sucessful but hope to be, as I've some results lined up.

I strongly disagree. If going from an MBA, go to institutions which are actually known for it. Symbiosis & Jindal, while they offer MBA courses, are not in the same league as the other ones you mentioned and are best avoided. Have seen way too many middle level managers stuck in a dead end career simply because someone had advised them "get an MBA from anywhere, better than nowhere"

Just crack it and there will be no looking back. You will be richer and happier in the long run. Of course, it’s hard to make it to the top IIMs, especially if you are a non-EWS general category student. But you can try the IITs, the lower IIMs or even NIFT (MFM - Master’s in Fashion Management) along with private institutions like ISB, FORE, MICA etc. Even Symbiosis isn’t bad. Worst case go to Jindal for an MBA. Good luck!

Hold your horses. The update will come when it's supposed to come. This means it will be provided when your internship month will be nearing. Rn the HR is busy with the current interns and those who are lined up for the next 2-3 months. Is November gonna start in 2-3 months? Certainly not. You will get your details regardless of following up with the HR. But if you can't control your anxiety (trust me ik how it feels) then try replying to the email thread that confirmed your internship at around June. Trying to get updates before that will bear no fruits to you. Leave it to the professionals, they are hired to facilitate these kind of things. Bottomline? Don't heed much.

Doing LLM at third rate unis overseas (e.g., UWE Bristol) is less worthwhile than doing an LLM from a first-rate uni in India, because of the amount they charge you in tuition despite being third-rate. First-rate of India vs. first (or perhaps even second) rate in the typical destinations (the UK, Canada, Australia, the U.S.), no question, the quality of the overseas one is better. If you want a good educational experience and preparation for academia, you'll be having a great time. But an LLM in no country I know of is helpful for getting a law firm job (unless of course it's part of a qualification combo like Harvard JD followed by Cambridge LLM).

- if you want to be recognised and can afford it, then buy- Rolex, patek, AP.

- if u canafford it but want to go under the radar, quiet Luxury, then go for - Jeager Le Coultre, Parmiggiani Fluerier, A.Lange and Sohne.

- if u want to look rich but dont want to shell out Mercedes car like money - Cartier (either tank or santos, they have quartz models for them so not very expensive), Tissot PRX Damian Lillard, oris divers 65 in full bronze.

As for those grapes, the ones who understand the ephemeral nature of life will not mind eating a sour grape once in a while for they know well and truly that you can never enjoy the sweetness of a thing unless you know how sour it could have been.

No, and most of us don't. We are expected to have functional language skills - i.e., ability to work with complex material, communicate complex and convoluted ideas in a simple way and do that persuasively, and explain complex things to people who don't understand them. This obviously requires a strong vocabulary, but it doesn't require use of flowery or fancy language on a daily basis. Read some good books (non-fiction and fiction) to build your communication skills.

For starters, you are already doing A LOT for a 2021 graduate being some office "in charge"! Tier 1s are rejecting your CV because you are not doing something right. Either get in touch with a good legal recruiter who will not only help polish your CV to the tunes of Tier1/2 standards and position you to match their hiring standards but also push your profile to the right contacts and connects at Tier1/2s. If you genuinely are handling clients directly, I don't see a reason why you shouldn't land a better profile at one of the better firms with a fatter pay check.

When Tamils migrate to UP or Delhi, are they shown the same courtesy by the locals? Practice what you preach. Every state has got its own culture and language. If you're migrating to one, then be prepared to learn it, or else focus on a common language, which isn't your mother tongue.

The principle of one-person-one-vote has already been violated when they first froze the distribution of seats in the parliament! A voter in Tamil Nadu is already over-represented in comparison with a voter in Uttar Pradesh. So much for being a democracy.

Please familiarise yourself with debates in constituent assembly. Or read VP Menon. The very concept of states emerges after the creation of the union when princely states and colonial provinces were harmonized into states. Tamil Nadu, as it stands today, did not exist in 1947. It is one of the successor states to Madras. Therefore, it is the Union that precedes and determines the states.

Feel free to share share your quantitative analysis of how BJP’s propaganda is worse than DMK’s. The last time I checked, no one in BJP has made a soft case for secession like those in DMK. The very intent of calling an Indian language like Hindi an “imposition” is nothing but dog whistle.

Just because NEP is a policy does not make it irrelevant. The Union enjoys precedence over policy-making when it comes to education. Even NEET-UG or JEE are components of that policy. Does that mean a state can choose to not recognise them? No. Does that mean that a state can refuse to implement a lawful policy while demanding the discretion to use as it sees fit the funds attached to that policy? No.

Surprising that headhunter or interviewers are not getting it! Though I suspect the problem will be that any law firm you approach, you will be looking for partnership and lawfirms are trying to find excuse to delay that for you.

I totally understand that these M&A matters can create issues for you since transactional experience is quite important (in any practice area). See if you can consider joining non tier 1 firms who are looking to expand. There are quite a few of them and will be happy to get someone so experienced.

I have 15 years of experience in banking and finance and work in a tier 1. I am due for partnership since long but since last 1-2 years my senior partner has started putting me on non debt matters sometimes even hard core M&A deals where most of the times I end up looking like a fool in front of the clients and counter parties due to lack of experience in other practice areas. My senior partner doesn’t have a marque practice in any field and hence doesn’t get good recourses. I am stuck with him and his justification for doing this to me is that banking matters don’t get you enough revenue. I don’t know what to do since I have already wasted all my life with this same team and headhunters or interviewers are not satisfied with this as a reason for changing jobs.

I secured a good rank in CLAT 2025 (Tier 1 NLU assured) but I am not all that willing to create one on LinkedIn. I don't really use much social media, except for an Instagram account to stay in touch with friends.

Better to do BA from NLSIU and then make use of the 10% institutional reservation in their LLB. Even if you change your mind about reading law by the end of your BA, you would still be in a better position to pursue other career strams. NLSIU, without a doubt, offers better company in terms of fellow students and faculty and will only improve your career prospects.

In life and in academics, do that which you find enjoyable and stimulating. What gives you pleasure will also make you sincere in doing it. When you come across someone with similar tastes, then you may join their company for the same. A relationship founded on passion and interest is more likely to be fruitful and intellectually adventurous than a relationship that arises from a moment of envy or jealousy. Even so, not every relationship premised on shared interests or admiration will last forever. But it will have contributed to your education and will have made of you of a better person by clarifying what you really want out of life and what you expect from others. To wit, the fear of missing out on something or someone is actually a fear of not knowing who we are, what we want to do, and who we seek to meet. Hence the anxiety of seeing others and thinking that they already know who they are and what and who they want. But that is an illusion of our youth. They are as uncertain as you. Embrace the uncertainty. For it is the depth of what you feel that truly matters and not how many feelings you have. Follow your own calling and you will not be led astray by others. When you cultivate a virtue of your own by asking yourself what you seek in yourself, you will have the confidence to exercise judgement upon others, the will to say no when you must, and the freedom to say yes when you wish.

There was never an organic movement. What you think you saw was an extremely well orchestrated media campaign that gave the appearance of one. It was like fashion: it seized your attention and made itself known as more than what it was, like a blurb on the back of a book that tells you that reading it will change your life. But fashion is always changing. Who knows, maybe it will come back again in circulation. Public memory is always short.

I would like to make a correction to this. It is not studying a particular subject that improves your capacity for critical thinking. It is the competition that does it. It is true that lowering of standards in non-science disciplines in India has led to relatively lower quality of competition in most schools where they are taught. But the good schools across the country teach humanities just as rigorously as science, of not more. In other words, a consistent pedagogic standard of scholastic achievement is what matters.

I think it is safe to say that all parties are habitual offenders when it comes to violation of fundamentals rights. But what frustrates me the most here is as to why the subordinate judiciary is so deferential to executive authority even in those cases with well established case law from higher judiciary that privileges personal freedom.
