This issue isnt partisan. Both the left and the right should want a supreme court that is not beholden to the government of the day. My college's Recruitment Coordination Committee (RCC) (Tier 3 NLU) has invited applications for internships at Priti Suri & Associates and Phoenix Legal. I am in the final semester of my 4th year and my last internship was with a Tier 1 law firm. I want to know whether these firms are worth applying to in terms of the quality of work and future job prospects. Based on my rank, I am likely to secure both internships, but I will need to choose one. Given that my areas of interest are Corporate and Real Estate, which firm would be the better choice?

You cannot "start your career as filing lawyer in SC". Being an AOR requires at least 5 years' experience. Secondly, an AOR is not supposed to be a mere rubber-stamp. Unfortunately, there are some into such practice, but that practice is frankly looked down upon.

You can still argue in whichever forum, so why your question assumes a dichotomy between arguing in HC/District Courts or simply filing in SC is beyond my comprehension. These things are not mutually exclusive. And you also miss out on another possibility: argue in SC!

Irrespective of all of the above, none of these are the reasons for the "AOR concept" to be abolished. It does not exist to create a "charm" as your post presupposes. The reasons for the AOR system to be there continue to exist as on today.

As for the 'institutional preference' question, both law and medicine are professional degrees. Distinction between PG medical courses and other professional postgraduate degrees is an artificial and silly one and things should not be thought about at all like this. "Institutional Preference" will now be given to NLS BA students for the 3 year and MPP courses.1 Why is this implemented at NLSIU, and is it even legal? In cases such as State of U.P. v. Dinesh Singh Chauhan, (2016) 9 SCC and Yatinkumar Jasubhai Patel v. State of Gujarat, (2019) 10 SCC 1, institutional preference was permitted only for postgraduate medical courses, which have historically been treated distinctly by the courts. Can this be legally justified for a regular B.A. course?

the 'training phase' lasts for two years and is 'low paid', you have to remember that LLB is taught for three years in the UK (straight after leaving school), so these two years are seen as practical training/apprenticeship.

After qualification the salary structure is one of the best in private sector, leaving a few finance jobs.

It is essentially because Ashwath and his team of senior partners and partners run a firm within the firm (i.e., bombay office of AZB). There mandates, rates, bonuses are all different from the rest of the firm. And the snobbery of the lowliest of associate from any of the teams operating under Ashwath. FFS. The team members behave as if they're minting the money and servicing clients' requirement singlehandedly instead of Ashwath.

He quotes abysmal rates to clients to keep generating work and outsources cheap mandates to other partners. Further, there is no scope of anyone else to grow. A person gets a client to AZB (Bom), they will be quoted sky-high rates, so much that the client will leave and the lawyer bringing the client will also be left shamefaced. Whereas existing bigshots (Ashwath et all) will bring mandates at rate cheaper than KCO, and no one will bat any eyelid.

Further the existing SAs, Counsels, Associates will be fed classist bullsh** that you're better than every firm in the market because yo do quality work not quantity based work. I mean anyone can see the VDDRs prepared by AZB (Del or Bom). Horrendous.

You have too many things on your mind, dear fellow. You need to cut the clutter first. If you are looking to join a good under-graduate programme in social sciences, you have NLSIU, the usual suspects in DU North Campus, TISS Hyderabad, Ashoka. There are other good options like Jindal, SNU, etc. but who are also over-priced (my view) for what they offer. Better alternatives are available which do not require that much money at the cost of greater competition. But (fair) competition is nothing to run away from. Also, a pro-tip, do not compare yourself with another person. Never. You mentioned the student who was recently awarded a scholarship. Good for her. But do not blindly rely on her and others’ academic/professional journey to dictate your own. You are on your own time and your own path. Learn from others but do not strive to become like them. Become your own person (yes, the cliché is true). Figure out what you want and what you absolutely do not want. Then decide four or five places where you can go and do what you want, meet interesting folks, work diligently and scrupulously, and you will have a good career and a clean conscience before you know it. bro in law, anything except corpp law( law firm) have immense struggle. due high nepotism unlike medical if someone struggle through UG, PG and PG/MS one can really have a decent or excellent career depending on skill. alternative of corp is litigation, research, academia and policy. In litigtaion getting good chamber and salary is very difficult if your are not from influential family( nepo) or tier1 ( that too also serves as connection). avg salary in delhi chamber are 20-25k if one find a decent senior or chamber (No fix working hour even on sunday). in policy few centre are good but they take it from top college provided if one has good writingskills

I have a drop year, I was a med reject (sorry but saying it bluntly) thanks to the NEET scam (had a 642 out of 720 which is definitely good but not for this year). My interest towards med has dwindled and I have had a interest in public policy and polsci including law.

I have filled MHCET law but am unsure if I should pursue law as a career. Even GLC Mumbai (the topmost college of MHCET) has zero college life and have no idea of what to expect from law as a career (first gen).

Sure about that I don't want to go for corporate (if I had interest then I would have gone for IPMAT or JEE or would have considered law seriously and would have not missed CLAT) but into public policy or litigation or judiciary (have not much idea about it and only DJS seems to be the right option as delhi rewards you for being in the government services+ Rohini is miles better than Begulsarai or Nanded)

Should I give CET law and go for 5 year? Or go for a english/polsci/zoology/biological science/liberal arts degree in DU/IISER/Ashoka or any UG for that matter and then write the NLSAT and DU LLB exam? Can we go for law abroad in the commonwealth countries or in the US?

Or if we go for a LLM after LLB (3 year) then? A girl from NLSIU (3 year) ended up in Oxford and she was a LSR grad in polsci. So something like that-might help in practising in the courts?

And even if I decide to go for corporate (which I am sure I won't) then will I have the option? Please help.
