Having worked in this team, I can confidently say that it is not the ideal choice if you are looking for a balanced or supportive work environment. It will push you to your limits both physically and mentally so be prepared for an intense experience. The attrition rate is the highest for a reason, and the overall team culture doesnt make things any easier. If you have other options, I would strongly recommend considering them.

NLUD has done nothing better with all those extra resources in over a decade and a half now. Its students have never fared better than NUJS students in any direction, most of its faculty who had contributed to its research culture have left, and there have been way too many controversies including student deaths to think that things are all hunky-dory inside the place. If rankings are all that matter to you, then NUJS currently has a better NAAC grade than NLUD.

Please don’t choose the other non TD team. This other team has some major issues which you will realise only once you have wasted 2-3 years with the team. The only good part of this non TD team is that you will meet your targets. But that’s simply cause you will die each day trying to meet the insane amount of work and the fake deadlines created by this partner for their own insatiable greed and an attempt to raise their own status and standard of living. If I have to Judge - I would say the place is not being able to host best of the best crowd well as could have been done at other NLUs but to median and down to that. It does well.

Study law anywhere, as long as you’re absolutely certain that you have the aptitude and inclination for it. The entrance exams and your ability to secure admission to one of the top seven NLUs serve as an excellent benchmark. If, after honest preparation and at most a second attempt, you still can’t make the cut, consider redirecting your time and resources toward a profession that better aligns with your strengths—because that’s where you’ll truly excel.

Please don’t waste your money on these ₹30-50 lakh programs just because you can (even with a loan). That would be a poor decision! Only consider institutions like SLS or JGLS if:

a) They offer you a substantial scholarship, and

b) You’ve managed to secure a top-seven NLU test score.

Know this—these institutions are in the business of selling education. There is little regulatory or independent oversight on the criteria they use to select candidates. Do not pursue law simply because you managed to get into such colleges; that alone is not reason enough.

India already has more lawyers than it needs. Joblessness is at an all-time high, and competition is fiercer than ever.

It’s high time the government and BCI shut down mediocre and underperforming law schools instead of opening new ones.
