We want LI to be one of the friendliest places on the internet, where lawyers and law students help each other with their career related queries and occasionally discuss other stuff that might affect their lives too. In other words:
1. Be kind, respectful and helpful to each other.
2. Be bona fide, truthful, genuine and curious.
3. Assume the best intention of others.

Now, hit them with facts. Tell them exactly whatโs at stake. A Tier 1 law school means top jobs at firms like CAM, SAM, AZB, where people start with salaries of 18-25 LPA. If you go to some random local college, youโll be lucky to even make 3-5 LPA. Thatโs the difference. Itโs not just about moneyโitโs about opportunities. If you ever want to study abroad, do an LLM at Harvard or Oxford, or even crack judiciary exams, your college matters. Judges, top litigators, law firm partnersโalmost all of them come from NLUs. If they make you stay back, theyโre shutting the door on all of that.
Now, letโs talk about the real issue. Your parents arenโt worried about your education, theyโre worried about what people will say. Relatives have fed them nonsense about girls going out and getting spoiled. You need to shut that down immediately. Tell them NLUs have gated campuses, strict hostel rules, curfews. This isnโt some party scene. Youโll be surrounded by Indiaโs best law students, not random people with no ambition. Also, bring up examples of girls from your city or community who went to NLUs and are now successful. Show them proof that their fears are baseless.
If they still donโt get it, hit them where it hurts. โYou were so proud when I got this rank. You know how hard I worked. And now, because of some relatives, youโre throwing it all away?โ Remind them that youโre their daughter, not some random girl from a story. If they truly trust you, they should trust your decisions too.
If all else fails, get someone they respect to talk to themโa teacher, a lawyer, a family friend. Sometimes, parents listen more when the advice comes from an โexperiencedโ person instead of their own kid.
And if they still refuse? Make it clear this isnโt over. Tell them youโll take a gap year and try again next year rather than settle for a bad college. Tell them if they force you into this, youโll never forget that they were the ones who ruined your career. They need to understand that this isnโt some small decision. This is your future. If they truly want the best for you, they need to stop listening to outsiders and start listening to you.

have people lost their minds? this is what we're bothering with so much? its a joke. If you think its funny, laugh. I did. If you think its not funny, move on like an adult.
Those crying about how this is obscenity and all- do you have nothing nothing nothing better to do? If you were worried about morals and values I know you have a mountain of child porn to report and traffickers to catch. A comedian making a joke that is pretty much middle of the road shouldnt be on your radar.
Reporters spending time writing about this should be ashamed. Do we not have anything else to report on or talk about in the country?
Cringe guy making cringe content for cringe people. This is the problem when you have a consumer base dominated by uneducated people. No class or taste in todayโs movies, music, podcastsโฆ

But cam competition doesn't even come close to SAM, AZB & JSA. These firms also wouldn't mind if you're A1 coming from tax background but you need to perform extraordinary in your interview for them to give you A1 position in competition team. If you're looking for A0 position, you've nothing to worry.
Very shocking because this is a very common practice is the USโฆ many law firm partners do it โฆ.has also been becoming popular in India.

In this regard, AZB and KCO have tier 2 EIR teams and the entire market knows it.
As for AI - no one in India understands it (beyond IPR in AI), apart from maybe IITs. There is no Indian law on it yet. So frankly its a premature field in law. What you should consider is faculty teaching 'Regulatory Affairs'.
With a batch of 300 UG students, 200 PG and then another chunk of 3 years LLB Grads. What does this foreign degree holder VC want to make NLS? A factory of intellectually unemployed students? Why don't you tell us about placements at NLS post 2024 and tell us more about each courses. Just few thinking here and there and what is to take pride is CV of VC. He has to be a good admin and make students like you understand that degree has very less to do with competence of either being a Good Prof, Litigation Lawyer, Corp Lawyer or be it any other field.
Mods, unpublish and tag the above comment as 'trollish' immediately. How is it that harmless jokes get tagged while genuinely exhibitionist (and bad) behaviour that could have adverse impact(s) on other people is given a free pass?
Either he/she has a strong contact there, or is super overconfident. SC judicial internships are some of the bought sought after internships for anyone pursuing litigation/applying for LLM.
Bro so many cheap places to do law. GLC or any Mumbai or delhi college is better
GRB???
My father and my uncle jointly own a 1200sq plot in Bangalore
. They have built two seperate floors in which each of our families live. We pay seprate house tax. The only obstacle I currently face is the ownership bullshit. The ownership deed has listed both their names but there is no explicit statment indicating the percentage of ownership which each of them hold. Would I still qualify for the Karnataka ews category?
I know you would not really be all that intersted in helping some dumabss kid asking for legal advice but I would really appreciate it if you help me ๐ this is my last resort as my father is very reluctant to consult an actual lawyer. I have tried various avenues heck I even went to a local litigation firm about this and they booted me out because I was not able to pay an upfront retainer fee of 5k.
I am from Karnataka. I am facing a dilema,My uncle and my father jointly own a 1200sq plot of land and have built two separate floors. We both pay seprate house tax. In the ownership deed both their names have been listed but an explicit statment of ownership is not specified. Everything else checks out except this whole ownership bs. So would still be eligible for EWS? I am posting this here because it will take a lot of convincing for my father to consult a lawyer so please help me out.
Gudmundur, Sreejith, Rashmi raman, Rohini Sen, Prabhash ranjan, etc
Above preferential order is based on the following criteria: (i) institute autonomy (including uniform academic calendar, time-bound academic sessions, etc.), (ii) academic rigour (including student-to-faculty ratio, intra-batch competition where members of a batch are more competitive when they secure admission in the institute of their first-preference, etc.), (iii) professional opportunities (including internships, scholarships, references, alumni relations, etc.)
When in doubt, go for that institute which you think (on balance of aforementioned criteria) is capable of providing a strong foundation for your career and one which you are least likely to regret joining. The above ranking, I think, satisfies that principle. Choice is yours. All the best.
1. NLSUI 2. GLC Mumbai
3. ILS
4. Jindal
Dont know about Delhi University
Regarding retaking clat, I'm a dropper already so would it be advisable to write the paper again (along w college) given the uncertainty of the last 2 years?
If pushed, mention that taking on additional corporate work may impact your ability to perform well in your primary practice area. Casually inform your disputes seniors that youโre being assigned corporate tasks and ask if theyโd prefer you to stay focused on disputesโthey may step in. Since disputes lawyers arrive later, use early hours for self-initiated legal research or drafting to appear engaged. If declining directly doesnโt work, say youโll check if you can manage both but canโt promise a deadline, forcing corporate associates to reconsider. Additionally, leverage informal discussions with other disputes interns or associates for strategies on deflecting corporate work. If assignments persist despite your objections, subtly bring it up with a disputes senior, as they might intervene to keep you within your intended practice area.
Atleast the juniors are working during the working hours. These seniors are not working even then.
I've done majorly internships in disputes and capital market.
I mean we have seen our politicians saying worse in the parliament
