Too much difference between theory and practical. Eg - The whole concept of Preliminary and Final Decree is so so different in practical life. I was surprised as to how to identify them. Unable to find any articles on internet. My senior then gave few pointers, which were absent in bare Acts and books.

Academics, unfortunately are prevented by our weird UGC rules which bars them from actual practice, thus rendering the perspective slightly unidirectional.

Honestly, it depends. The college offers a ton of opportunities, such as a strong alumni network, helpful seniors, international moot court competitions, internships, and placements. But to really take advantage of these opportunities—especially internships and placements—you will need good grades. Ideally, you would want to be in the top 20% of your batch. While it's not impossible to get placed if you're outside the top 20%, it definitely makes the process smoother. SLSP has a great alumni network, which I have personally tapped into for internships. At the end of the day, your own efforts are what will truly help you stand out and succeed.

SLS Pune would, in an ideal scenario, cost you an extra 3 lakhs per annum (including your flat/PG, monthly food expenses, going back home if you are not from Pune, etc.) from other top law schools in the country since its fee structure does not include accommodation. If you can afford to take a drop, please go ahead and crack any of the top 3 national law schools. They are positioned in a much better manner in terms of reputation and opportunities.

If you ask me, I would not have changed a thing from the start (including not taking a gap year). However, you do need some luck along the way, and you should not be banking on that but on yourself.

From what is available here, it appears that she was civil in the beginning. However, internet really does eventually bring out the worst in everyone, especially when one person tries to discuss an issue seriously and is met by people whose idea of achievement in life is to frustrate others to the point where even they cannot avoid being uncouth. As sad as it is true.

1. You know how in the course description or syllabus for each course you take at law school there is essential reading listed, and then 'supplementary', 'further' or 'recommended' or even 'optional' (the terms vary) reading? Often, people wish they had done more of the further reading. So that might be a useful start, for all you know!

2. Beyond the 'further'/'recommended'/'optional', there is maybe reading that wasn't included on your reading list that was perhaps cited in the footnotes of the essential or further reading. Looking at that, too, is an example of reading more.

3. Going beyond the curriculum your law school imposes: For example, very few universities in the world (Oxford, Cambridge, I think Edinborough) make their students learn Roman Law. Consider doing something like that if you truely want to 'read more'?

4. Even if you want none of the above, putting in more effort to more thoroughly take in the essential reading or what further reading you do for 'tactical' purposes (exam success) might be an idea.

Am sure there are other suggestions I haven't listed, others please add to the thread!

F the LI trolls. If you are at a top 20 UK university then the quality of teaching, research, infrastructure and student experience will be much better than any Indian one.

Now coming to your query, my advice would be to consider an internship with:

1. Indian lawyers attached to UK barrister chambers

2.The UK India Business Council and then use their network to intern with A-list organisations in India.

Firstly thank you for taking time to read this post. So, I've been planning to quit my job at the company. It's shitty. And I can't keep up with their ship. Initially when I was offered the job, HR agreed for 16 LPA and after few days she called and said they can't give me that and can only offer less. It's just a minor increase from my previous work place. I had to take it coz of commitments at home and I didn't have enough time apply for a new job and wait for long. So I took it. But the company is shitty and I want to quit now. The notice period is 3 months. I want to take this time to prep and get a significantly better one. But before quitting I want to know if they can fire me during notice period.

I've seen them sending away people immediately when they resign if they don't have any dependencies. But I want to leave only after serving my notice period. So I want to know if they can terminate me during notice period legally. If I decide to serve the notice period, what can they do to send me off? I want to be on this safety net until I crack a new job and I think 3 months is good enough. What can I do here? Please help me out.

My qualifications: recent BCOM HONS grad pursuing CA on the side. I have always been interested in law as a subject and profession. (especially corporate) So, I searched the internet and found several colleges offering a three-year law degree. some of them are :
