Hello guys, I have my clat results and based on my rank [between 95-105] I will get NALSAR & may also get NLSIU. My main concern with NLSIU is the increase in the batch size to 310 for this academic year, even though there is the NLS tag, will such a large batch size see a proportional increase in placements as well? I have certain queries about NALSAR as well, particularly the quality of their faculty which has apparently degraded a bit over the years, is the situation particularly bad? [Please keep in mind my main concern is placements]

A lot of the faculty are really nice, recently there was a hiring spree and we got a bunch of new teachers. There are always a few bad apples tho. If you are looking for good teaching then avoid the BA programme altogether.

The teaching pedagogy depends from professor to professor, some faculties really live up to the NLU hype like Renjith Thomas and Sayantani Bagchi, who encourage critical thinking, self exploration and research.

At least ppl vl have clarity of wat dey r venturing into and wnt b misled into peanuts pay and horriblle and T work envrnment under the veil of opposite culture. Fixed pay is the same. Variable may not be equal to a corp / m&A lawyer; this so, because M&A / Corp teams bring more business.

If you are in a purely TMT advisory practice (and not a PE/VC/M&A/corp advisory practice that supports tech businesses) your work hours significantly lesser than a PE/VC/Corp lawyer. You are more of a subject matter expert than a generalist.

Specialise. Specialise and specialise. Pick one area of practice in law, stick to it and read only related to it. Being in criminal litigation, I hardly remember contract, property, land law, family apart from the basics. But ask me anything about criminal law and procedures, I won't miss a beat !

bhai Trump tower isn't popular even in a city like Kolkata, let alone internationally. It gets overshadowed by the Atmosphere tower right next to it, which is lot more magnificent and posh. That's the case with Camellias as well. It's a brand in its own. Just because it's DLF, an Indian brand, doesn't mean it got to be cheap.

One sentence summary: Indian law firm is so desperate to be seen as relevant that they get quoted in the New York Times, and get a low-paid PR agent (who probably never went to university, or flunked out if they did) to go on a site frequented (largely) by law students who can't quite stop being high school trolls yet, to say that they (the law firm representative, not the PR agent) have been quoted in the New York Times.

Idk which mbas finance yall have worked across on deals but the ones I do work with/are clients have it as bad as us. Doing an MBA for better life is straight up dumb. Do something else; you're just changing the nature of work you do the industry is still the same. Words vs numbers is the choice not good vs bad. Realign your priorities; stop looking at the highest paying careers if wlb is a priority; move to something chill-er as an industry itself.

I feel like MBA is good for career but only if you graduate from B schools (IIM) if not then again its a waste of money and time. As you would be wasting your 2 years doing MBA and end up getting 6-10 LPA max 12-15 LPA from a average college which you can get after 2 year of PQE of a law firm easily and also MBA is not cheap its cost around 20 LPA fees being bare minimum. I feel like we should instead work at least 3 year in a law firm and then shift to a In house legal counsel role for work life balance. I am personally aiming for legal role in the Big 4 or some good tech company. Hope you find this insight full.

Men commit suicide because men largely commit violence against each other and are more successful in committing violence against themselves. It is not incumbent upon women to throw away hard-won safeguarding on the presumption that men would feel better about their lives if they did so. Men must make their lives better instead of foisting the blame for their well-being on women. Especially when women do not engage in large-scale violence or harassment of men at all to any degree. Stop blaming women for men's problems!

Real Estate look at Wadia Ghandy (entire wing under Dhaval Mehta); DSK Legal (Sajit Suvarna), Dhaval vussonji are at top. ELP, Khaitan (a top partner left the firm), SAM, Trilegal are doing decent.

The top real estate firms don't pay that well, but DSK pays the highest. You can work there for a while and then leave for Trilegal, Khaitan, or a similar firm.

I just got into 3rd year in a state law college (i took this college as a backup for my partial drop for clat 2 years ago). Prepared day and night for clat last year with the dream of getting into NLSIU. Somehow messed up last year's CLAT. I took CLAT this year so that I don't regret it later on, and also i had developed a fear of exams after the CLAT 2024 fiasco I was also having a very low self esteem. I got a good rank this year enough to get NLS. I'm 19 years old currently and will turn 20 soon. My goal is to get into corporate law. Should I join NLSIU or continue in my law college. I haven't focused on studies in this college at all, I've just passed my exams with no co or extra curriculars whatsoever.

Some more info: took clat 23 with 3 months of prep, got into a tier 2 NLU, didn't take it. wrote clat 2024, didn't get any nlu. Took clat 25 and here I am.

Also is 20 too old to start law school (i passed out from 12th in 2022)

Genocide ? Really ? Genocide ? Please tell me which sex commits 95% of murders ? And which sex is disproportionately vulnerable to murder and violence ? You can cook up most stats in the criminal justice system - but murder rate is one of the few it’s hard to fudge. No policeman anywhere is refusing to prosecute female murderesses and courts are not biased in their favour. The evidence is pretty damn clear. Men do nearly all the killing in this world. They do it to women, and they do it to other men too.

And when is it that women are most susceptible to violence ? When they’re old or too young or when they’re pregnant. What a noble sex class men are to pick on the weak! Please tell me which sex class commits 98% of sexual crimes ? Oh right - men.

I’m sure there is a case somewhere where some woman lied about experiencing violence. All people lie. But it’s pretty disgusting to claim there’s a male genocide going on when it’s the female sex class that’s been hounded and hurt and killed routinely and consistently through history. They’re subject to foeticide and infanticide as babies and their corpses are violated after they’re dead. FOH with this bullshit.
