I am from NUJS and worked my ass off for the M&A team just to know that someone from NMIMS who did his first corp internship at SAM (through ofc contacts) land a callback. Life is unfair at the Mumbai office. This holds especially true because folks in the Mumbai office hesitate to send out your feedback form to the HR on time.

Choose NLS. If this relationship or your gf is genuine and serious about you, she will be happy to see you prosper. More than anything please know that relationships don't last forever unfortunately, at the age of 18/19 we all think this is it but when 2 or 3 years down the line the relationship may end you will only be left with regret for choosing nlud over NLS. Please do not make decisions based on your relationship status

As someone who is in a t-1 college and considered retaking clat to make it to NLS some time ago- I just want to express how grateful I am that my luck(end-sem exams) didn't allow me to. Life in NLS is absolute hell IF you aren't someone who doesn't mind sacrificing their social life, burning the midnight oil year long, and be preached that law school isn't about corporate placements. NLS, in the name of academic rigour, can make your life absolute hell. But if you are absolutely sure you have the grit, then go ahead with it. Ultimately, it still is the best law school in the country. I won't talk abou the impact of increased batch sizes on academics and corporate placements here, there are ample threads on it.

NLUD on the other hand is a safer bet. Small batch, doing well academically, decent placements. It is a balanced t-1.

I'm happy that you're suffering from success, but nevertheless, outweighing and compromising education over the relationship is definitely not a choice. The concept of long-distance relationships exists for that purpose. While you foster the bond, you also don't compromise on your studies. Go ahead with NLS, man. The NLS-NLUD Couple looks great and cute. All you both need is commitment and drive.

So I need a reference from two professors from my university. However the problem is that I've been an introvert and barely attended class. The professors dont even know me that much. Plus it's been 3 years since I graduated. It's gonna be awkward. How do I approach this situation? Do I email them ? Get their number and text them or call them ? Or do I have to come back to India and meet them in person ? Please help.....

If NLS really wanted to diversify it could have offered a completely new program (like the economics example by IIT that you cited).

The reason for NLS's existence was to offer a 5-year law program. Now all it has done is unbundled the two to offer two 3-year programs, coupled with a land-for-seats scam - it is a laughable mix of innovations in practice.

When clowns like you start defending decisions that are devoid of any iota of common sense, that's when the problems start. If NLS wants to commit suicide, who are we to stop them?

"For anyone who thought NLS was a law school"? Did anyone ever really doubt that NLSIU, the institution which created the now ubiquitous 5-year programme, is a law school? The mere fact that one pure social science course is being started at the university does not take away from the overwhelming evidence which shows that NLS is a law school. Make better and more believable rage bait.

On the whole I think it was a decision in the right decision but given the numerous quotas and domicile it is funny how around 15 seats out of 60 are for All India General Unreserved. Nonetheless it taps into the intellectual capital of the faculty in the humanities and makes logical sense given NLS offers the LLB and it would serve as a springboard to that. I am unsure as to how this experiment of diversification will work out in the Indian context particular for NLUs but this was the only way to expand for grow and the success of this particular programme will determine whether other NLUs in the future take up the same path. IITs have started offering economics and other courses so why shouldn’t NLUs expand if they have the bandwidth to do so. Ultimately we cannot build grand multidisciplinary colleges like in the United States at this stage but we can try our best. Isolation and division of subject matters and fields in higher education is the opposite of what the norm and ideal is being viewed at and NLS Is acting in accordance with the NEP.

See it depends: I think the placement will be more or less equal, though NUJS may have some more international opportunities silt cause of its vintage. Otherwise I think NUJS and GNLU are more or less equal. But do consider if you would want to stay in a place like Kolkata for 5 years, I certainly wouldn’t so choose NLS when I had given CLAT.

Lol, your sister would have given anything to study at NUJS. She couldn't, hence she can't bear to see you go there either. NUJS has always had better placements in every field, from law firms to policy bodies, compared to GNLU, their student body is much more vibrant and active, you get way more freedom for co curricular activities, and much better faculty compared to GNLU. Moreover, Kolkata is a way better place to live compared to Gandhinagar.

I’ve got an assessment at Wadia before, I’m the person who commented above about the pay scales with bonus etc, I’ve also got into NDA. NDA is considerably harder to get into, assuming you do an internship before your callback you might not even have a interview before your assessment, moreover the longer you are at the firm your final confirmation interview ( always taken by one of the managing partners) will also be a cakewalk as long as you know the basics of what you have done.

I can’t speak fluent English but I really wanted to get into law review as it has too many overachievers, they didn’t take me in….rather whenever I approach any member now, they are very mean to me like unbelievably mean

So i am 19 and in DU doing political science B.A, I am not the biggest fan of and was for a large part winging it because I took humanities in 12th (genuinely like the subjects) but it is a bit of a dead end degree and even more so now.

I bombed my CLAT got a 98** rank and fine in AILET but won't be getting in NLUD. I am a bit confused now I would be 20 next year and 21 when the session starts if I do perp for CLAT26. I feel awkward now even when I first gave the exam there were 17 year olds in the exam center

Tl;dr should I give CLAT/AILET when I am 20 would it pose any issues?

The salary difference is not much. Particularly when you factor that many investment associates start working at an older age than associates. In fact, even most starting salaries at IIM A (25ish lakhs) would be comparable - and these guys spend like 2 years extra studying. More tax also has to be paid.

It is unfortunately drowning day by day. There is nothing like what it was an ‘old CAM’ left there, I.e., what it was about 8 months back. Bangalore office at least is fully wiped out, except few left over seniors.

What you get is, the new CAM cum the IndusLaw team who joined CAM. I think only Delhi CAM CM is untouched due to the lovely leadership in Delhi office of CAM CM

honestly just take nlsiu, not because it is perfect for corporate but because of the sole reason that it is the top ranked college right now, there is little to no difference between nlsiu and nalsar when we compare the prospects but if you are also getting nlud, then you might consider nuld only if you want the regional benefits
