While I do agree that we should not belittle those who are at foreign universities, I think your stereotype is even worse: what you imply that those in the brain drain category have brains and then there are, as you say, 'those who don't [have brains]' who are those in India. This logic does not follow. Everyone teaching abroad needs to have brilliance, but not everyone with brilliance will teach abroad: those fighting for social justice here may be just as brilliant or even more - it is just that we romanticise those abroad more, which is a pity.

I have finally gotten an internship in my dream firm in the dream position for December month

after trying a lot. But there will be a vacation towards the end of December for new years. I’m in final year and I really want to try the best to convert it from my end. But I fear that with vacations it’s not the best month for a firm to get to assess me. Should I be concerned about this ?

Coming to the question, well getting debarred from lack of attendence , the consequences are not bad as getting debarred from malpractices or mis conduct. It's just what you do from now that matters.

Toxicity will increase further with increasing work load. Minions are habitual of taking work from home whenever they felt like, this was helpful when they had a lot of work. But here, they are not able to take WFHs and they are frustrated, which in turn reduces productivity. Heard a bunch of 2-3 PQE discussing when to put in papers. A good chunk of original team of Manan won't be here for too long, including someone at a senior level too. Let's see how things pan out after the year end bonus is credited. Sorry, that's just not true. His doctoral thesis got turned down twice for not being up to the mark, and most of his academic work have been heavily criticized for flawed models and assumptions. His work on Sanskrit texts was enthusiastic, but full of holes and oversimplifications as discussed by more than one knowledgeable critics in the field.

I am a final year student at a top-3 NLU and a first generation law student/lawyer like yourself. Given your liking for criminal law, you being a first generation female law student/lawyer, and salary being an important factor for your future job, I can suggest you this:

Directly pursuing litigation would be a difficult choice financially. You can try interning with a corporate team as well as a disputes team (especially one that deals with white collar crimes) in smaller firms. This will maybe give you some perspective and help you make a more informed choice.

Since you're still in your second year, talking to seniors who have interned with such teams or have secured jobs in such teams will be immensely helpful. If you are in a good college, have good grades (as you said), and try your best, you can secure internships in corp and disputes team of smaller firms in your third year.

Afterwards you can try to get an assessment internship in the practice area of your liking in a tier 2 or tier 1 firm and work your way to an offer maybe. I know it is not as easy at sounds, but talking to good seniors (preferebly those who are similarly placed) can be very helpful.

Making it to a job opportunity in a team working in general corporate or related areas is considered slightly easier so you can keep that in consideration too. Though I am not aware about how easily can you switch your practice area later.

As for environment, note that they expect you to work hard. Every corporate lawyer worth their salt knows that they do not shit as A0-A3. You are expected to observe, learn and absorb. By time, the assignments will take less time and you'll be able to compartmentalize work and life unless of course, there is some urgent work.

Hey Riyal, You can try Gpt 01 preview (by getting the gpt premium), or Llama 3.1 405B (one of the strongest models out there but you gotta pay). Get the firm to invest perhaps. You can try Nvidia's Nemotron 70B model (go on hugging face and choose the models, it is easier), Idk what magic sauce Nvidia adds but it runs inane. None of my techie friends are able to figure out able to figure out what they have done different.

I would suggest on a weekend, you just play around and figure out your own automated models and templates. It will go a long way in hasten your research abilities.

This is not a revelation. Everyone already knows this. Additionally many of the students at even T1 NLUs are science flunkies who failed to do well in engineering entrance exams or couldn't even muster up the courage to write them.

Fact is, the top engineers (IIT, BITS etc.) have cleared a much more rigorous and difficult entrance exam compared to NLU students. Their aptitude and skills are compensated accordingly.

Lawyers will be a prime target IMO, with so many firms having offices in Noida and many Senior Advocates living there as well. 26 crores is small change for a Senior Advocate and even for law firm partners it is very affordable. Even associates can buy on loan knowing that they can make it up.
